DWIGHT BONIER FINISHES
13-WEEK HARVARD PROGRAM
Dwight M. Bower, who for ten years served the state's north-central
and northeastern counties as a Division of Highways District Engineer in
Greeley, has been attending Harvard University for a 13-week executive train-
ing piogiam and returns to Colorado in mid December.
Bawer, a prime mover in the cleanup and U.S. 34 road restoration
following the Big Thanpson Canyon flood in 1976, has been deputy director of
the Colorado Department of Highways since March 1983.
Last summer Bower received a Gates Foundation Fellowship to attend
the Program for Senior Executive Fellows at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School
of Government. The selection, an honor in itself, also paid 90 percent of
Bower's costs to attend the intensive program. Sessions are designed for the
most promising managers in federal, state and local government.
Bower has been employed by the Department for 27 years, gradually
advancing fran technician to the agency's second-ranking position. He is a
graduate of the University of Colorado's civil engineering program.
