NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF GARDEN CITY, COLORADO AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Board of Trustees of the Town of Garden City, Colorado hereby encourages the Board of County Commissioners to continue the Mosquito Control Program for the year 2005 and future years. 2. Cities and towns are without authority to engage in spraying, larvacide treatment and other mosquito control programs outside of their municipal boundaries and most of the mosquito breeding habitat lies outside the municipalities where municipalities are unable to act against mosquitoes. 3. The County mosquito control program in conjunction with numerous municipalities has resulted in economies of scale and has made the program affordable to the County and to municipal governments. 4. Municipalities are unable to effectively manage their own mosquito control program without the territorial jurisdiction of Weld County and without combined financial resources of the County. 5. Mosquito control is important not only for disease prevention, but also to enhance the quality of life in Weld County. Mosquito control has been successful, in that it has reduced the number of West Nile Virus cases and has enhanced the quality of life in the County. ebn41,1,a1 it //L OP3/ le) - a5aer 2004-3118 'I 6.
