RE: ACTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REGARDING VIOLATION VI#0400229
AGAINST TODD AND CLARISSA COPE FOR VIOLATION OF THE WELD COUNTY
CODE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Todd and Clarissa Cope, VI #0400229, are allegedly in violation of the Weld
County Code, and
WHEREAS, on the 12th day of April, 2005, a public hearing was held before the Board of
County Commissioners for the purpose of hearing testimony relating to said violation, and
WHEREAS, Todd Cope, property owner, was present at said hearing, and
WHEREAS, at said hearing of April 12, 2005, the Board of County Commissioners
determined the property owner has brought the subject property into compliance and deemed it
advisable to dismiss said matter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that VI#0400229 against Todd and Clarissa Cope be, and hereby is, dismissed.

The property referenced above remains in violation of Chapter 29 of the Weld County Code. I have scheduled
a meeting with the Board of County Commissioners on April 12, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., to consider the
violations. The property is in violation of the following Section(s) of the Weld County Code:
Section 29-5-120 "Electrical permit inspection required."
Section 29-5-140 "Final inspection."
To bring your property into compliance:
all electrical inspections shall be completed on the permit for service to an agricultural
exempt building.
This meeting will take place at the Weld County Planning Department Office, 918 10th Street, Greeley,
Colorado. It is recommended that you or a representative be in attendance at this meeting to answer any
questions the Board of County Commissioners might have regarding the violation.
The Department of Building Inspection will be recommending that the Board of County Commissioners
authorize the County Attorney to proceed with legal action to remedy the violation. Our records indicate that
you were made aware of the nature of the violation,the action necessary to correct the violation,and that you

Subject: Permit# ELS-021157— Part of the SW4 of Section 2, T1 N, R66W of the 6th P.M.,
Weld County, Colorado
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cope:
On March 11, 2003, an inspection was scheduled for the above noted electrical permit for service to a pole
barn but the inspector noted nothing was ready to inspect. On July 1, 2004, I sent you a letter advising that
the permit was expiring due to lack of inspections. I again contacted you by letter dated July 24,2004,stating
the property was now in violation as there had been no response and still no inspections had been scheduled.
On September 28, and again on November 9, 2004, I left telephone messages requesting you call me
regarding scheduling inspections. Again, I received no response. On January 10, 2005, a letter was mailed
advising of a meeting with the Board of County Commissioners on February 8, 2005, to consider if the case
should be referred to the County Attorney. The letter was returned on February 14, 2005, marked
"Unclaimed" I am once again requesting you contact me so we can discuss this matter.
If you never installed the electrical in the building, please send me a letter stating that and the reason it was
not installed and request the permit be expired. If the electrical service was installed, please call for
inspections. If no response is received within 10 days from the date of this letter,we will proceed with violation
action.

It has been determined that the property located at 16224 Highway 52 is currently in violation of the following
Section(s) of the Weld County Code:
Section 29-8-40 of the Weld County Code states that permits shall expire after 180 days of inactivity.
To bring your property into compliance with the Weld County Code:
All necessary inspections shall be completed and the electrical permit for service to an agricultural exempt building shall
have final approval.
It is the intention of this office to assist and cooperate with you without imposing undue hardships; however,
we have no discretion in this matter if you fail to correct this violation. You have 30(thirty)days from July 24,
2004,to correct this violation. Failure to do so will result in this office scheduling the violation before the Board
of County Commissioners to consider whether to refer the violation to the County Attorney's Office for legal
action.
