RE: AGREEMENT WITH STATE OF COLORADO FOR GRASSHOPPER CONTROL
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado Statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS , portions of Weld County have a grasshopper control
problem, and
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado will enter into agreements
with those counties requesting State assistance to cover
two-thirds (2/3) of the total cost of pesticides and application
not to exceed a cost of three dollars (3 . 00) per acre as the
State' s share of roadside spraying, and
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado in the attached letters has
committed to fund this program not to exceed ten thousand
dollars, and
WHEREAS, Weld County' s only involvement in this program
would be administration via the Weld County Extension Office and
to pay the spraying bill and seek 100% reimbursement from the
State of Colorado
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County that the Chairman of the Board is
hereby authorized to sign the agreement with the State of
Colorado Department of Agriculture for the Grasshopper Program
not to exceed ten thousand dollars.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that no County funds will be utilized
for this program and that the Weld County Extension Agent is
hereby directed by the Board to administer the program on behalf
of Weld County.
The above and foregoing Resolution was , on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 25th day of
July, A.D. , 1984 .

following:
1. Products and services are supplied at the lowest cost
available (bids if possible);
2. Grasshopper control applications are made to roadsides
bordering cropland in which high populations of grass-
hoppers. are known to exist in the barrow pits and
ditches along the roadsides.
3. Carbaryl, cythion or acephate insecticides are used as
control agents (other insecticides may be considered
upon request);
4. Farmers adjacent to roadsides where applications are
made act to control grasshoppers along fence rows and
ditchbanks on their properties; and
5. Apply all pesticides in strict accordance with all
label directions.

Upon completion of the project, please provide this Department
with a billing that will include, the date/s of application,
total acres sprayed, total per acre cost and statement of payment
due.
This procedure has been approved by Dr. E. R. Roon, Director,
Division of Purchasing, Department of Administration.

This agreement pertains only to roadside spraying conducted by William Webster,
the county. We have neither the authority nor the resources to Greeley
contract with private individuals or groups of individuals. Clede Widener,

Participation in the roadside grasshopper control program does not
require that treated areas be a part of established pest control
districts.

An agreement has been made with the Weld County Commissioners for
State funds not to exceed $10,000. However, if money is still
available we will issue another agreement for an additional
$10,000 if it is needed. 0
