To the Weld County Commissioners:
I was very disappointed and somewhat infuriated to hear about your recent consideration of the rezoning and use
of some of the rural landing Weld County that yes, happens to neighbor my family's property, as a spot for loud,
dirty, and probably not-well regulated sporting and entertainment to take place.
When my grandparents moved from Washington State to Colorado, it was because they were looking forward to
the privacy and leisure that rural Weld County afforded its residents. They didn't want to live in Aspen or
Denver, where these events that you are considering could be found, no...they wanted to go to Weld county
because it seemed to reflect the agrarian values and lifestyle that they have known and modeled all of their lives.
They have enjoyed those privileges—along with getting to know their neighbors, some of whom are mile away.
But imagine my dismay when I heard that the ever greedy government officials in Weld County were considering
revocation of the qualities of life my grandparents had moved to that area to enjoy—only to allow a filthy,
unnecessary type of entertainment to move in right next to them.
I am sure the main reason for the consideration of this venue is a monetary gain—however minimal for the county
and significant for individuals involved in the deal- including helpful commissioners who allow this plan to come
to fruition. I have seen the corruption that money brings to government, be it on the local, county, state or federal
level. The major corruptions that ensues, however, is the lack of trust by the voting public in their government
officials. Democracy is built on the premise of the public utilizing checks and balances to maintain a government

to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government,
and to provide new guards for their future security."(U.S. Declaration of Independence) I would
strongly recommend you consider this factor as you think about your length of tenure as a county commissioner.
If you have hopes for it to be a long-term position, undertaking this endeavor would not be in the best interest of
your political career. The richer a political figure becomes while in office, the more suspicious the public
becomes about how the dealings of its government truly positively impacts its people—or just the people in
positions of power.
Weld County is not the same kind of county as others in your state. You should be proud and hold true to those
things that keep Weld County unique, and not change with every passing opportunity of fast, but overall minimal
economic influence. It's those things that are long-lasting that will help your county survive and I am certain this
cheap form of noise and, some may say entertainment, but I call it degradation of your county, will not be
profitable or enduring.
I strongly urge you to reconsider and forget about this frivolous measure—for the good of the citizens in your
county, as well as for your long-term political effectiveness.
