Dear Weld County Commissioners,
I was planning on attending today's meeting regarding approval of the proposed horse racing track and beer
gardens, but am now unable to do so due to my children being ill. Therefore, I would like to voice my concerns
about this proposed business. I know your time is valuable; therefore, I will be brief and list my concerns in bullet
form.
• Increased traffic on county roads that are not designed for that volume
• Weld county tax dollars that will need to be used to improve these roads or construct new roads
to accommodate the increased traffic flow.
• Races ending at approximately the same time as children coming home on school busses and
concern that many of the track patrons may be driving while intoxicated.
• Inadequate number of law enforcement officials available to patrol and monitor the proceedings.
Weld County Sheriff office does not have the personnel to do this and neither do any of the small
towns in the area.
• Inadequate emergency medical personnel available to respond when there are injuries. Again,
the EMS agencies in this area do not have the personnel to cover this business that can
potentially produce an increase number of injuries due to traffic accidents or jockeys falling from
horses, just to name a few examples.
• Noise from the loud speakers disrupting the quiet country living that enticed us to move to rural
Weld County in the first place.
