He stated the regulations help ensure this type of development fits in with anticipated future growth in the area. Chair Jerke stated this is a very typical development on a parcel of land that is difficult to farm with limited water. He stated he prefers to see a well-designed development rather than weeds or mobile homes. [1] Some changes in the updated Comprehensive Plan that promoted the urbanization of rural Weld County were passed by the board despite the opposition of some members of the public, planning commission and dept. of planning services. [2] Weld County is , indeed, a growing area and will continue to grow. However, this growth should take place within municpalities. By planing acreage sized lots in areas that may be surrounded by municpalities in the future and may not fit in with their comprehensive plans, or not be in areas close to municipalities where these county subdivisions will continue to be dependent on certain services provided by municpalities. [3] There is no assurance that there won't be weeds on these newly created parcels, and mobile homes can only be placed on the original parcel with the approval of county goverment.
