HomeMy WebLinkAbout20051674.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES WELD COUNTY, COLORADO JUNE 6, 2005 TAPE #2005-26 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, June 6, 2005, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner William H. Jerke, Chair Commissioner M. J. Geile, Pro-Tem Commissioner David E. Long Commissioner Robert D. Masden Commissioner Glenn Vaad Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Jenny VanEgdom Controller, Barbara Eurich MINUTES: Commissioner Geile moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting of June 1, 2005, as printed. Commissioner Long seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. WARRANTS: Barbara Eurich, Controller,presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount of $56,555.75. Commissioner Masden moved to approve the warrants as presented by Ms. Eurich. Commissioner Vaad seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: CONSIDER FIVE NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated the term for all of the following Notification of Financial Assistance Awards (NOFAAs) are from June 1, 2005 through May 31, 2006. She stated the NOFAAs are based upon the provider's Request for Proposal, which has been reviewed and approved by the Families, Youth and Children (FYC)Commission. Ms. Griego read the names of the five providers and stated the funding is awarded through Core Services. Commissioner Geile moved to approve said notifications, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Vaad, carried unanimously. 2005-1674 BC0016 o&. -O5— CONSIDER TEN NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMS WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN:Ms.Greigo read the names of the ten providers and stated these awards are funded through Core Services. Commissioner Geile moved to approve said notifications, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Long, carried unanimously. CONSIDER THREE NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR FOSTER PARENT CONSULTATION PROGRAMS WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Ms. Griego read the names of the three providers and stated these awards are funded through Core Services. Commissioner Long moved to approve said notifications, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Masden, carried unanimously. CONSIDER NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD FOR FOSTER PARENT TRAINING WITH JUBILEE RETREAT CENTER AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN -LORI KOCHEVAR, LLC: Ms. Griego read the name of the sole provider and stated the award is funded through the Child Welfare Administration funding. She stated there will be eight trainings held per year, with twelve participants attending each training. Responding to Chair Jerke, Ms. Griego stated this will be part of the mandatory training for new foster care parents. Commissioner Masden moved to approve said notification, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Long, carried unanimously. CONSIDER FOUR NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR SEX ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAMS WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN:Ms. Griego read the names of the four providers, and stated the awards are funded through Core services. Commissioner Long moved to approve said notifications, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Masden, carried unanimously. CONSIDER THREE NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR INTENSIVE FAMILY THERAPY WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Ms. Griego read the names of the three providers and stated the awards are funded through Core Services. Commissioner Masden moved to approve said notifications, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion,which was seconded by Commissioner Vaad, carried unanimously. CONSIDER FOUR NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR DAY TREATMENT PROGRAMS WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Ms. Griego read the names of the four providers and stated the awards are funded through Core services. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve said notifications,and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion,which was seconded by Commissioner Long, carried unanimously. CONSIDER FIVE NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR HOME STUDY, HOME STUDY UPDATES, AND RELINQUISHMENT COUNSELING WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN:Ms. Griego read the names of the five providers and stated the awards will be funded through Child Welfare Administration. Responding to Chair Jerke, Ms. Griego stated relinquishment counseling is part of the dependency and neglect process for biological parents who are nearing the termination of their parental rights, and it helps them determine whether they would like to relinquish the actual custody of their children.Commissioner Long moved to approve said notifications,and Social Services Minutes, June 6, 2005 2005-1674 Page 2 BC0016 authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Masden, carried unanimously. CONSIDER FIVE NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR OPTION B-HOME BASED INTENSIVE PROGRAMS WITH VARIOUS PROVIDERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN:Ms. Griego read the names of the five providers and stated the awards are funded through Core Services. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve said notifications, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Geile, carried unanimously. CONSIDER MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING PURSUANT TO HOUSE BILL 04-1451 WITH VARIOUS AGENCIES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Ms. Griego stated the Memorandum of Understanding(MOU)is under Collaborative Management of Multi-agency Services Provided to Children and Families. She stated the term of the MOU is July 1,2005 through June 30, 2006. Ms.Griego read the names of the fourteen agencies and providers that comprise the voting members of the MOU. She stated the parties would be working together on a consensus basis,with veto power, according to State statue. Responding to Chair Jerke, Ms. Griego stated that the District Attorney's Office is included in the program. Commissioner Geile moved to approve said memorandum, and authorize the Chair to sign. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Long, carried unanimously. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
