HomeMy WebLinkAbout20053263.tiff MEMORANDUM
TO: Sheri Lockman, Planner II DATE: September 28, 2005
FROM: Donald Carroll, Engineering Administrator
SUBJECT: USR-1520, Mike Johnson
The applicant has resubmitted a plat drawing identifying recommendations from our sketch plan review. The
applicant has also provided the new plat drawing identifying adequate turning radiuses around all the storage
units, as recommended in my previous memo. The applicant identified 10' x 20' parking spaces adjacent to
the storage units. The driveway area is 10 feet between each storage unit building.
I recommend removing these dimensions and markings from the plat drawing. They are utilizing the 50-foot
corridor to accommodate loading and unloading from individual units.
The applicant may want to reevaluate the location of the 24-foot gated access to the storage units. It is located
next to the trash receptacle and light pole with a very tight turning radius to the entrance of the facility.
"-'tie Public Works Department has no conflict with the revised plat drawing, but would suggest removing the
.,ems listed above and evaluating the location of the entrance gate.

I do not understand how a building and planning commission would allow building's to
be built knowing ful well that they will fail, due to the surrounding and current trend of
other such bussiness ' s that have. Leaving residents to continue to look at the eye sore
once failure has occured.
I personaly moved to the country to see open land and a house or two in the distance.
Not a 150 storage units out my front door.
I know you have no controll over how the such person (Mike Johnson) handles his
bussiness ! ! But as a building commision I would think that storage units 30 miles form
any large town would not even be allowed to have gotten this far down the line to becoming
a reality, in such a small town as Nunn that can not even keep a cafe in bussiness
I really hope that the board takes a long hard view at what this will do to our town
even if it is not your town!
I do not have a problem with the houseing that he wants to build, but there realy is
no point or need for 150 storage units in the town of Nunn.
