Dear Ms. Lang,
On behalf of the citizens of Weld County, Colorado, I respectfully request that
you consider, consistent with applicable laws and resolutions, locating an Immigration
and Customs Enforcement office in Greeley, Colorado.
Not only do the demographics of Greeley and Weld County warrant such an
office, various local concerns require swift action. My office, in cooperation with the
Weld County District Attorney and other law enforcement agencies, has become
increasingly more concerned about gang activity in the Greeley area. It is my firm belief
that an ICE office in Greeley would help to significantly mitigate these and other public
safety concerns in Weld County.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this very important matter. If you have any
questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,
l 7ua

Dear Mr. Copp:
I want to thank you for your quick response to my August letter concerning El Paso
County Sheriff Terry Maketa's request for assistance from the Colorado Immigration and
Customs Enforcement(ICE) office.
Recently, local law enforcement authorities in Greeley, Colorado, have called to my
attention the growing problem of illegal immigration and crime in their community. I am
writing to request that you meet with local law enforcement officials to discuss ways in
which you can work together to address the issue.
In the long run, opening an ICE office in Greeley may be the most effective and efficient
way of dealing with the county's growing problem. If this step appears to be necessary, I
will look forward to working with your office to accomplish this.
Until that time, in light of the area's high concentration of illegal immigrants and the
resulting burden on the community, I would ask that you consider providing immediate
assistance to local and county officials in Weld County to ensure that illegal immigrants
are properly deported.
Sincerely, Ge%%-
