Re: Petition to Eliminate Fugitive Dust Palliative from WCR 29 (SH 14 to WCR 84)
Dear Mr. Freeman:
The Board of County Commissioners has received the petition noted above from residents in the WCR 29
area and referred it to the Department of Public Works for action.
Selection of gravel roads as candidates for control of fugitive dust is based on a process outlined in the
County Code (Section 8-6-100) and is dependent on a sustained traffic count of at least 200 vehicles per
day. The Code also establishes a process that must be followed to eliminate the application of materials
for control of fugitive dust if the traffic count is less than 200 vehicles per day.
Within the next two weeks, Public Works Department personnel will conduct a traffic count on WCR 29
between State Highway 14 and WCR 84. If that count is substantially below 200 vehicles per day, the
Board of County Commissioners will consider removing WCR 84 from the list of roads for fugitive dust
control and commence maintaining it as a gravel road.
Please advise your neighbors of the process we are following if the opportunity presents itself.
