The following business was transacted:
I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated March 18,2005,and duly published March 23,2005,
in the Fort Lupton Press, a public hearing was conducted to consider whether good cause exists
for the revocation of Use by Special Review Permit #1456 for a Kennel (25 cats) in the
A (Agricultural) Zone District issued to Barbara Schottelkotte. Lee Morrison, Assistant County
Attorney, made this a matter of record. Jacqueline Hatch, Department of Planning Services, gave
a brief description of the location of the site, and requested the matter be continued to July 6,2005,
at 10:00 a.m.,because Ms.Schottelkotte has gained employment and staff believes she will have
the necessary funds to complete the requirements. In response to Chair Jerke,Ms.Hatch explained
the cats are feral and Ms.Schottelkotte takes them to the veterinary clinic for care and to be spayed
or neutered, so they are receiving better care than if left in the wild.
Barbara Schottelkotte, respondent, stated some of the issues have already been addressed. She
stated the disposal of waste materials was addressed in her original application materials, and the
septic system has been approved and the permit was located by the Health Department.
Responding to Commissioner Geile, Ms. Hatch stated Ms.Schottelkotte has been working on the
screening on the north side of the property, she has provided documentation verifying the garbage
is being removed on a weekly basis, and one mobile home needs to be removed and the other
homes needs to be hooked up. She further stated Ms. Schottelkotte is working to obtain a State
permit, the Health Department has reviewed and approved the Waste Handling Plan, and the
remaining items deal with recording the plat. Ms. Hatch stated staff feels the continuance will
provide adequate time to complete the outstanding items. Responding to Chair Jerke, Ms.
Schottelkotte stated she is employed at a wholesale tree nursery making$5.75 full-time;however,
she is still looking for better employment. She further stated she may not be able to complete all
of the requirements by then; however, she is working on them.
No public testimony was offered concerning this matter.
