8.4.2.c Container Management Practices:

The container storage area,know as the Outside Marshalling Area,is shown in Figure IV.
The Outside Marshalling Area(OMA)is designed to contain 112 drums(56 pallets)of •
hazardous wastes.Drums containing different substances are not segregated as all are
compatible.An aisle space is maintained to allow movement of personnel for inspections.
Containers are not stacked but are stored on pallets.A Drummed Waste Report is used
to verify the contents of each drum.
The surface of the Outside Marshalling Area is a lined,curbed,concrete containment area.
It is designed to contain 112 drums(56 pallets)of hazardous wastes and any spills,leaks,and
precipitation until detection and removal.The concrete area is sloped at 1/8-inch per foot to
the sump area and has a six-inch curb around the perimeter.Access to the area is by ramp which •
goes up and over the curb to ensure containment. The base is composed of compacted road base and
sand on top of the synthetic liner and sand beneath the liner.The typical drum pallet
layout is shown in Figure V.
