ZEITLIN CHIEF OF DEPARTMENT ' October 8, 2002 James Campain M.D. Emergency Medical Services Department P.O. Box 69 5401 West 20th Street Greeley, Colorado 80632 Weld County Board of Commissioners do Dave Long, Commissioners 915 Tenth Street Greeley, CO 80632 Dear Dr. Campain, This letter is in answer to your letter dated October 1, 2002. The Eaton Fire Protection District has provided medical reports for over sight to Barb Foster. As of this date we have not received any feedback from her or her staff. The reports provided are produced by the departments computer based management system containing all the information that is required on the Weld County Paper Form. Moving to these reports was caused by never receiving the computer generated reports program promised for approximately a year from Aims. The AED has been used twice this year on EMS Responses. The reports were tuned in the same day. The department has requested more than once that AED Training Reports be sent to the department. We still have not received them. If we were receiving numerous communications from Aims and phone calls you would not have had to write your letter. E-mails and call backs are routinely answered the same day or next depending on time and date received. Phone calls to Aims are answered by a voice mail system at the EMS Office. The Fire Department hand-delivers correspondence to the EMS department that also does not receive action, current case in point being a prescription for sterile water to re-supply our kits. Ci`? -nY 2002-2788 06 e4 a 40L As fire chief I have a duty to the board of directors and the public to look at all options for providing fire based EMS training services to the districts' fire fighters. Managing the fire department and contractors serving the department lies with the fire department and not with an outside agency. No where in this agreement to establish a physician advisor service for the Eaton Fire Protection District is there language limiting our ability to seek a physician advisor, or college based program. Finally, I disagree that we are in breach of contract under Paragraph(9), but agree that the relationship under the present agreement has not been to our mutual satisfaction. Therefore this letter serves as notice of our intent to terminate the agreement under Paragraph(9C). therein effective on January 1,2003 anniversary date of the contract. Yo truly, y4,. te' A.
