Second Semi-Annual 2002 Groundwater Sampling Report
Project No. 54160.0701 303.694.666. •
• Dear Mr. Ikenberry and Ms.Etcheverry: Facsimile
• Enclosed for your review is the Second Semi-Annual 2002 Groundwater Sampling Report 303.694.44 t o
for the North Weld Sanitary Landfill (NWSL). This report was prepared on behalf of
Waste Management Disposal Services of Colorado,Inc.by Earth Tech,Inc.(Earth Tech). •
Sampling for the event occurred on September 10, 12 aild 13, 2002, and Severn Trent , •
Laboratories,Inc.performed laboratory analyses. Also enclosed is a 3.5-inch disk,which
contains the analytical results for the second semi-annual 2002 'sampling event as
requested by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
This was the thirteenth detection sampling event for these wells and there were no volatile
• organic compound detections during this event. Lead and zinc were detected at MW12 •
for'the second consecutive event.
Statistical analyses were performed using intra-well companions. Intra-well Combined -- - - - --
Shewart-CUSUM .Control Charts were prepared for wells MW03, MW04, MW05,
MW10, and MW12. The enclosed results of the statistical analysis are displayed in
• tabular and graphical format. The background period for the control charts has been
updated to include data through March 2002,and CUSUM is currently calculated starting
at the end of the background period. During the first semi-annual 2002 sampling event,
MWO3 and MWO4 did show CUSUM exceedances for the field measurement of specific
• conductance. Detected levels were lower during this event. Due to the highly variable
nature of field-specific measurements and because field specific conductance is not truly
considered part of the NWSL statistical evaluation, this is not a concern.

exception of sulfate in MW03,these constituents were detected at lower concentrations
during this event. Sulfate was detected at a slightly higher concentration. MW12 and
MW03 are upgradient wells, however, and not subject to verification sampling: There
were also potential exceedances for nitrate and sulfate in MW04 during the first 2002
semi-annual sampling event. Verification sampling conducted as part ofthe second semi-
annual 2002 event did not confirm these exceedances. Nitrate was'non detected-and-
sulfate did not exceed the control limit.
During the second semi-annual 2002 event, well MW05 did show a potential control limit
exceedance for sodium and well MW 10 showed a potential exceedance for pH. These
detections will be,subject to verification sampling during the next semi-annual event.
The next sampling event for these wells is scheduled for March 2003. Should you have
any questions concerning this report, please call me at(303) 694-6660.
Very truly yours,
Earth Tech, Inc.

SUBJECT: NORTH WELD SANITARY LANDFILL(NWSL)
THIRD QUARTER 2002 GAS MONITORING REPORT
Dear Mr. Ikenberry and Ms. Etcheverry:
Enclosed for your information is the Third Quarter 2002, Gas Monitoring Report for North Weld
Sanitary Landfill (NWSL). The gas monitoring and corresponding report was completed by Waste
Management Disposal Services of Colorado, Inc. The gas report contains monitoring results from
the Phase 1 perimeter soil gas probes (GP) GP-14 through GP-20, structure probes GP-1 and GP-2
and inside the shop and office.
The gas monitoring report indicates that combustible gas was not detected in any perimeter probes
or.on-site structures above regulatory limits.
If you have any questions regarding this report, please call me at(720) 977-2107 or Bill Hedberg at
