Re: Weld County Road 390
Dear Mr. Condie:
Thank you for your letter regarding concerns with dust and safety on Weld County Road (WCR)
390.
Unfortunately, WCR 390 does not have sufficient traffic volume to warrant paving.
The Board of County Commissioners recently met with concerned citizens in the Grover area to
discuss this issue. As a result of that meeting, the Weld County Public Works Department is
developing a plan to eliminate"sand pockets" and transport roadway material used to reduce
dust. That plan will be implemented this winter as weather permits.
I appreciate your concern with student safety, and I suggest using WCR 77 and WCR 120 from
Briggsdale as an alternative. These roads are paved and provide an excellent route if you wish to
avoid dust and muddy road conditions.
Very tic Dave Long

Dear Commissioner,
Our school district travels to Grover on County Road 390 at least twice each year. They
also travel that road coming to our school. In addition to the busload of students, we also
have the parents and school officials traveling the road. In spite of your best efforts, it is
still a bumpy and dusty road. The dust causes significant visibility problems, especially
as one vehicle meets another vehicle coming the other way. I really worry about
someone trying to pass a vehicle and running into one of our buses or school supporters
coming the other direction.
For the sake of the safety of our students and school supporters, I would appreciate you
paving the road as soon as possible.
Thank you for your strong consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
J W. Condie, Superintendent
