HomeMy WebLinkAbout20020228.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT ISSUED TO MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION OF COLORADO, AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado presented to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, an application for a Special Events Permit for the sale of malt, vinous and spirituous liquors for consumption by the drink on the premises only, and WHEREAS, said applicant has paid the sum of TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00) to Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to the laws providing therefore in payment for a County Retail Permit for the sale of malt, vinous and spirituous liquors for consumption by the drink on the premises only, for an event scheduled for one day only on May 19, 2002, at 6:00 a.m., to May 19, 2002, at 10:00 p.m., outside the corporate limits of any town or city in the County of Weld at the location described as follows: Dandy Acres Painted Horse Farm, 1763 Weld County Road 20.5, Longmont, Colorado, being more fully described as part of Section 18, Township 2 North, Range 68 West of the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado WHEREAS, said applicant has also paid the sum of TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00) to the Colorado Department of Revenue and has exhibited a State Special Events Permit for the sale of malt, vinous and spirituous liquors for consumption by the drink on the premises only. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, having examined said application and the other qualifications of the applicant, does hereby grant Special Events Permit Number 2002-02 to said applicant to sell malt, vinous and spirituous liquors for consumption by the drink on the premises only, only at retail at said location; and the Board does hereby authorize and direct the issuance of said permit by the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, attested to by the Clerk to the Board of Weld County, Colorado, which permit shall be effective from 6:00 a.m. on May 19, 2002, until 10:00 p.m. on May 19, 2002, providing that said place where the permitee is authorized to sell malt, vinous, and spirituous liquors, for consumption by the drink on the premises only, shall be conducted in strict conformity to all of the laws of the State of Colorado and the rules and regulations relating thereto, heretofore passed by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, and any violations thereof shall be cause for revocation of the permit. 2002-0228 re ' & 4P,o/ LC0022 SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT - MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION OF COLORADO PAGE 2 The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 28th day of January, A.D., 2002. The 16th Annual Frank's Ride for Children is a benefit event to assist Make-A-Wish Foundation®of Colorado and is scheduled for Sunday May 19,2002. 2. The mission of Frank's Ride is to help Colorado children who are fighting life-threatening illnesses and who want to have a wish granted. The children we sponsor participate and sometimes even ride in our sidecars! They and their families have a great time and enjoy seeing all the motorcycles and vehicles supporting their wishes. 3. Who or what organization will be the recipient of funds derived from this event? Proceeds from this event will benefit the Colorado chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. (Please see the attached information regarding Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado). 4. How many attendees are expected at this event? Approximately 1,000—1,500 attendees. 5. Describe the premises at which this event will take place. The event will be held at Dandy Acres—Registered Paint Horse Farm located at 1763 W.C.R.20 ''/3, Longmont,Colorado 80501. This is a private 28-acre farm and the event will take place on 15-20 acres of the rear portion of the property. 6. What type of security will be provided at this event? Volunteer staff of Frank's Ride will provide security for this event. 7. How many security personnel will be on hand? The entire staff consists of approximately(100)personnel. However,there will be(15)staff members designated specifically as"Security"personnel. 8. How will security personnel be identified? The entire staff will be identified by wearing"Frank's Ride Poker Run Staff' shirts. The designated security personnel will also wear armbands marked"Frank's Ride Security". 9. If this event is being held outdoors,how will the exterior boundaries of the premises be marked (e.g.,roped,fenced,etc.)? This outdoor event will have exterior boundaries clearly marked by orange construction fencing and posted warning signs. 10. What type of entertainment will be provided,if any,for this event? A local rock-n-roll band"The Joe Cool Band"will be providing the entertainment for this event. 11. What method will be used in checking identification for proper age of attendees(e.g.,at the door, at the bar,etc.)and how will underage patrons be identified so as not to be served alcoholic beverages(e.g.,stamp or mark on the hand,etc.) Staff members will be checking ID's at the event entrance. Legal age participants will wear wristbands provided by Budweiser. These wristbands will be clearly marked stating that they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Underage participants will wear wristbands clearly marked stating that they are underage and cannot be served/drink alcoholic beverages of any nature. Signs will also be posted on the event premises stating"No alcohol allowed off the event premises" and"No one under 21 is permitted to consume alcohol". 12. How will the conduct and level of intoxication of attendees be monitored and by whom? The entire Frank's Ride staff will be monitoring the conduct and level of intoxication of event participants.
