COLORADO Director of Public Works/County Engineer SUBJECT: Establishing a 35-MPH Speed Limit for WCR 24 '/2 from WCR 73 easterly approximately 1740 feet Easterly The WCR 24 %2 improvement will be completed and opened for traffic early in the week of June 24, 2002. It is necessary to establish a posted speed limit for this roadway. The WCR 24 'h/73 intersection has a"T"configuration with westbound WCR 24 '/2 being required to stop. The total length of the improvement from WCR 73 easterly to the entrance to the Roggen Elevator area is only 1,740 feet. The horizontal design speed criterion selected for this roadway segment was 40 miles per hour. It is customary to reduce the operating speed limit from 5-10 miles per hour from the design speed limit. I recommend the speed limit be established at 35 miles per hour.
