Hempen, Jr., P.E. Director of Public Works/County Engineer Ifj(1 lunge SUBJECT: 35 MPH Speed Limit for "F" Street from 59" Avenue Easterly 1.5 Miles to Greeley City Limits COLORADO "F"Street from 35th Avenue to 59"Avenue is approximately 2.0 miles in length. From 35th Avenue westerly, 0.5 mile is within the Greeley city limits and has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour (mph). The westerly 1.5 miles has no posted regulatory speed limit. From the city limits westerly 0.4 mile, the roadway is straight and level. The next 0.8 mile is continuously curvilinear in nature with 30 mph advisory speed limit signs posted at each end of the segment. The westerly most 0.3 mile is straight and level ending in a "stop condition" at the 59°i Avenue intersection. This segment of roadway is known to be"accident prone"and the rate of recorded accidents exceed three per year. Based on the roadway geometry and speed limit posting consistency, I recommend a 35 mph speed limit posting for "F" Street from 59'° Avenue easterly 1.5 miles. pc: Marc Street "F" Street file RE CENED Interoffice Memo NOV 12001 bdCAkP -JV To: Weld County Traffic Engineer PUB IC, r-4 Dl=_PT 1.'tii1 From: Deputy Ben Rushing O ca0 (\\ r4., p J - J = Date: October 31, 2001 Subject: Additional Sign Request Sir: Recently I completed a traffic survey on F Street between 35th Avenue and 59th Avenue. This area is posted as a 35 MPH zone. The survey showed the speeds to be well in excess of this. as well as high volume since the develpoment of a large modular home community that has a major entrance/exit on the south side of the street. At my last check i only saw two speed limit signs on this section of road. I am requesting more speed limit signs be erected at the following locations: 1) two at the entrance of the modular home community "STONEYBROOK". 2) one for westbound traffic prior to the entrance of the curves. 3) one for eastbound traffic as cars leave the series of curves. This section of F Street is unincorporated Weld county. In the recent past there have been several major accidents on this section of road. This area has been designated as a high hazard area. The Sheriffs Office Traffic Unit will be doing concentrated enforcement in this area. Please review the enclosed summary report for additional information. Your consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated. Dep. Clinton B. Rushing, Jr. Weld County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit 356-4015 x4148 Hello
