Longmont Distel Operation

Connie Davis, Support Services Representative for Camas Colorado on behalf of Aggregate
Industries requests a variance to the hours of operation to include 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on or
about April 26, 2002 for two consecutive days/nights. This request is for a paving contract with
Edward Kraemer & Sons, subcontractor to Kiewit Construction for the construction of cross-
over lanes for the 1-25 widening project. Please see the attached letter for additional
information.
The Department of Planning Services notes that Development Standard number 3 of the 4th

cancellation of the Permit.
Should the operator wish to vary the hours of operation from the hours permitted

Re: Request for Temporary Variance—Hours of Operation
4th AmUSR877—Longmont Distel Operations
Dear Kim:
Kiewit Construction, under its paving contract with Edward Kraemer& Sons for Colorado Department of
Transportation Project No. IM-0253-151, I-25 &Hwy. 7, has designated the Longmont Distel Operations
of Aggregate Industries as the material supplier for construction of temporary crossovers. Temporary
crossovers are to be constructed at various times and locations within the project area to detour traffic
away from active areas undergoing permanent construction. In order to maintain the least disruption to
traffic flow on the interstate, the contract requires that the crossovers be constructed at night, generally
between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The first crossover is scheduled for two nights of construction commencing on or about April 26, 2002.
A maximum of twelve to fifteen truckloads will be required to provide approximately 150 tons of material
per night for this crossover. Construction for the other crossover will occur next fall, and it will require
approximately the same amount of time and material.
In order to accommodate the terms of the project contract, we respectfully request that the Planning
Department grant a temporary variance from the Longmont Distel permit limitation of daylight hours of
operation to allow night truck loading and hauling of material to this project. I do not have supporting
documents for this request at this time, however if you have any questions or need additional information,
you may contact the following:
