HomeMy WebLinkAbout20021262.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE WAIVER OF DIRECT SUBGRANT AWARD FOR JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY INCENTIVE BLOCK GRANT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Waiver of Direct Subgrant Award for the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, and the Colorado Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice, with terms and conditions being as stated in said waiver, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said waiver, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Waiver of Direct Subgrant Award for the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, and the Colorado Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice, be, and hereby is, approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to sign said waiver. Box 758 Greeley, CO 8063 1-075 8 Dear Commission Members: Re: Federal FY01 Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant(JAIBG) allocation to the Weld County Board of Commissioners in the amount of$41,101 - 4th year allocation The Division of Criminal Justice, Colorado Department of Public Safety, has received the FY01 JAIBG allocations. The Weld County Board of Commissioners is eligible to receive a JAIBG allocation of$41,101. A minimum cash match of$4,567 is required. Funds will be available upon approval of submitted documents for start dates of October 1, 2002, and are good through September 30, 2003. The enclosed FY00 JAIBG Local Plan Awards chart depicts current subgrant agencies, the jurisdiction(s) included in the plans, the project directors, and programs being developed within the allowable purpose areas. For FY01 the allocation can be used to continue or expand current plans or to develop new plans. As last year, twelve program areas are available for use of the funds, with up to 10 percent(10%) of the award available for administrative costs. (Keep these Guidelines for reference during your plan development.) DCJ encourages plans to follow the Restorative Justice model balancing accountability, community protection and competency development of juvenile offenders. Specific analysis of the needs of minority youth and girls should also take place.
