The JAIBG program provides an opportunity to reinforce sound juvenile justice practice
already occurring in communities, as well as to advance existing practice through the
enhancement of programs to provide appropriate services and sanctions to juvenile
offenders. DCJ encourages plans to follow the Restorative Justice model balancing
accountability, community protection and competency development of juvenile
offenders. Specific analysis of the needs of minority youth and girls should also take
place.
