Box 309 Johnstown, CO 80631 Re: Request to Upgrade Weld County Road (WCR) 48 %z between WCR 17 and State Highway 257 Dear Harold: I have referred your letter to the Public Works Department and asked that they evaluate WCR 48 '/z as a candidate for the County's Five Year Roadway Capital Improvement Plan. A traffic count will be performed within 4-6 weeks to determine whether current vehicle volumes warrant further assessment of the roadway for upgrades. Typically, traffic volumes must be at least 200 vehicles per day for any improvements consideration. If traffic volumes meet the minimum criteria, the Department will consider issues such as safety, relative cost/benefits, current and projected traffic volumes, system continuity, impacts on utilities and structures, and the project score for this candidate. The project score will be used to establish a rank to compare WCR 48%z to other roadway projects being considered for inclusion in the Five Year Roadway Capital Improvement Plan. The Board of County Commissioner will be reviewing an update of the Capital Improvement Plan in the near future. Upon completion of the Board's review, we will advise you of the status of WCR 481/2. If you have further questions, please call Frank Hempen, Jr., P.E., Director of Public Works/County Engineer at (970)356-4000, Extension 3750. Sincerely, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Glenn Vaad, Chair pc: Commissioner Geile Frank B. Vaad, Chairman Weld County Commissioners 915 10th St. Greeley, CO 80631 Dear Glenn & Commissioners, At our regular Johnstown-Milliken Chamber of Commerce meeting, which was held on Tuesday evening, February 19 , 2002 , various things were brought up for discussion. One that was brought up was to see if Weld County Road 48} couldn' t be completely blacktopped from Road 17 to Highway 257 . This road is partially blacktopped from Road 17 going east and we would like to see it completed to Highway 257 because this road is now getting more traffic and it would also make a good truck route to by-pass main street in Johnstown. The Chamber of Commerce gave me permission to write to you and see if this road could be put on your agenda for next year or so. We certainly do appreciate what the county had done to some of our county roads around Johnstown. Sincerely, Harold Fahrenbruch Member of the Chamber P.O.
