HomeMy WebLinkAbout20020540.tiff RESOLUTION RE: GRANT PERMIT FOR TEMPORARY ASSEMBLY TO LEAHY FAMILY FARM, LLC - MARCH 24, APRIL 13 AND 14, APRIL 27 AND 28, JUNE 2, JUNE 22 AND 23, JULY 7, AND SEPTEMBER 15 AND 16, 2002 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, Leahy Family Farm, LLC, 22437 Weld County Road 19, Milliken, Colorado 80543, has presented to the Board of County Commissioners an application for a Permit for Temporary Assembly on land within the unincorporated portion of the County of Weld, State of Colorado, to be held on March 24, April 13 and 14, April 27 and 28, June 2, June 22 and 23, July 7, and September 15 and 16, 2002, on property described as follows: Leahy Family Farm, LLC, in part of the SE1/4 of Section 9, Township 4 North, Range 67 West of the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado WHEREAS, said applicant has paid to the Weld County the sum of ONE-HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) for said Weld County Permit for Temporary Assembly, and WHEREAS, having examined said application, the Board deems it appropriate to grant a Weld County Permit for Temporary Assembly to Leahy Family Farm, LLC, and WHEREAS, said permit shall be issued subject to compliance with the terms and conditions as set forth in the application materials and upon the express condition and agreement that the temporary assemblage will be conducted in strict conformity to all laws of the State of Colorado, and WHEREAS, any violation to said terms and conditions shall be cause for revocation of said permit and forfeiture of bond. Riders will come to this event to qualify to go to regional races in Texas or Utah, then on to the Championship race in Hurricane Mills, TN in July, 2002. We will have overnight camping insurance, extra security and extra portolets at the facility for this event. Number of riders is unknown, but probably close to 500. (These races are held in conjunction with AMA District 25, Colorado and Wyoming, and the RMXA club, and are the same series we have always held. RMXA Board Members are present at each of these races, and each race is sanctioned by the AMA. Insurance certificates are issued and posted for each race (sample enclosed) and follow-up reports are expected within 14 days after the event. We have been chartered with the AMA since 1998 and draw riders from Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and New Mexico.) RACE EVENT: American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) National Hare Scrambles, Round 2 Race Date: April 13 & 14, 2002 This two day event is a National Hare Scrambles race differing from motocross in the following respects: A course is laid out on 80 acres of our facility using direction arrows, tape, flags and markers. Riders are not allowed to practice on the course, but are led around it (on their motorcycles) the morning of the race by a race official. During the race, at least 15 observers chart the racers' progress, and report any violations. Two of the races will run a full two and one/half hours, and riders will be at AA, A, B, and C skill levels. There are also classes for Women, +30, +40, +50, and Vintage riders and Youth, ages 12-15, and 7-11. The Youth rider course and length of race will be modified. After the race, the course will be re- seeded. AMA race officials will be present to inspect the course and consult with the referee about any course violations, and the races will all be scored electonically (bar codes on rider's helmets and scanners) . We will have extra portolets, security, and overnight parking insurance beginning on Friday, April 12, 2002) .
