To the County Commissioners;
I have told you that I would update you regarding the situation surrounding this botched
furnace installation by the Weld Housing Authority who used Greeley City Urban
Renewal Contractor, J.R. Salas who hired the subcontractor Air Repair.
Aylissa is still under Doctors care. The move to the Days Inn has greatly improved her
health, however, she still has a rattle in her lung that has not cleared and is going back to
the doctor this week. Emily has still mucus-lined sawdust, but it is getting better. The
fiberglass that was found in Aylissa's eye is now being referred to an ophthalmologist as
soon as possible. Mr. Teixeria brought Linda Scott, October 29`h, 2002 to the Days Inn
to present the Service Master evaluation.
Now for the cleaning issues:
For sake of demonstration I would ask that you put your child or grandchild in the place
of my infant daughter. Pour dirt on your desk. Vacuum it up and lick your finger and put
it on the area you poured the dirt. Do not wipe it off before you place your licked finger
in it. Then put it in your mouth. Try that with sawdust, particleboard, and sheet rock.
Aylissa and Emily lick their fingers and do just that. Aylissa has been crawling and
attempting to stand and Emily attempts to climb on everything. Their carpet has been
walked on with metal shavings, saw dust and slivers that have been walked into the
carpet where they crawl, run and walk. Aylissa stands holding onto her toy box and other
furniture, which has a fine coating that can't be vacuumed up but has to be wiped off or
she will ingest those things unwittingly when she puts her hands into her mouth. All of
her clothes hanging in her closet, her blankets, her T.V. her toys have all a fine powder
and sawdust all over them because of inconsiderate and non-caring"professionals". She
has an eye injury because someone threw wads of fiberglass when tarring out her ceiling
above her bed.
This is what is only acceptable to me and I have spoke with the doctor. You replace the
carpet in her bedroom and our room. You have someone help wash all the exposed
clothes and laundry that had wood chips all over them and slivers of wood. You have
everything thing in the house wiped down that was exposed. Not just vacuumed.
Anything that air current that placed anything on the windows, door jams, walls, floors,
ceilings, furniture, book case fronts, storage units with papers that have the fine film,
cupboards, towels, ... in short everything that was exposed to the furnace "circulation"
should be washed down, washed off, and vacuumed I have to pick up the babies and
when I do If I have touched something that has not been cleaned off.. it transfers to
them. I do not wish for further problems health or legal because of this fiasco. . It is not
a matter that is negotiable. My house was safe until this install and should be made so
again.

Otherwise, don't expect asbestos removal people to have to wipe anything down when
you have any further work done in removal of it in any county buildings or for the
Federal Government to have to clean when anthrax was removed from their buildings.
Please don't expect me to accept less than what you require with companies when they
"clean your buildings"with dust contamination.
I did not have the problems you have created in my home until this furnace installation.
My home should be left better than what is currently my situation. Even with the dust
that I could not get to, your fine dust is now on top and must also be removed and you
can't split that into two categories without being ridiculous. My office, my computer,
T.V. VCR, DVD, Printer, Fax machine have been exposed to this fine dust as well,
which is still laying right out side the cold air duct that sucks it right into the furnace
again and recalculates in the room. With the cold we had no choice but to turn on the
furnace to keep the pipes from busting or that would be an additional cost to you. Since
the assessment by Service Master, the kitchen once that was cleaned is now re-exposed to
the fine dust, which is on all my appliances, that can't be vacuumed but was indeed
swiped off with my finger and his from the mixer.
The children come into my office and touch everything their level. They use to play in
there before we removed the wall registers for the furnace install. The use of my vacuum
because of the comments made by the housing authority and the gentle men in charge of
this project to "clean up yourself" or"it's only a little saw dust"(with metal fragments)
that can ruin my $1400 Kirby, and probably has is since this project at our home. This
cleaning and repair will issue. I need my vacuum to keep throw rugs clean upstairs and I
used it for the stairs and my carpet down stairs and it just was overhauled/cleaned in
March of last year.
I would ask that your people stop lying to me that they are coming over, and they bring
another person with them they did not say they were bringing. Because of this practice,
you are causing additional stress so I have hired Mel Dinner attorney at law. I want it
clarified of who is paying for this clean up and for the stay at the hotel, as this has not
been made clear.
I would also like to inform you that anyone of you can be cooped up with a two year old
and a 11 month old in a hotel room for 24 hours will no where to play and in a space
equal of that to the men or woman's bathroom in centennial building. They don't have
their toys because of the film on them. Having additional expenses with food costs and
gas because of this mess. I have been there a week. So please don't think that getting a
room at the inn is a luxury for me when my living space has been drastically reduced and
my little fiscal reserve. I doubt if you gentlemen would have as much patience after a
week put into my situation you come and stay with the kids for a couple of days.
When they become sick because of this contamination are you willing to come to my
home and help me take care of my children or me? You weren't at the hospital with me.
•
The wire line for the phone in the master bedroom downstairs has been damaged and is
not working. We went without service for a day only to discover that this was the a bad
connection directly related to the extended pulled lined in the.girls room where the wire
ran under the cold air vents that were installed. IT will cost to have that jack and the wire
replaced and repaired. That phone was working the day of the install. Qwest said they
would charge us to have it repaired. That jack was put in in 1998 by Qwest when we
moved into the house.
To resolve this I would earnestly hope that you would act on the behalf of your
grandchild or child in consideration. My husband has lost time from work at the hospital
and from work taking care of the children. If this stress continues it will affect me. The
State of Colorado requires the definition of dust having to CLEAN BY WIPING in
contamination issues. Don't expect me to accept less than what you have required
companies to do in their clean up of their contamination.
Respectfully submitted,
Chris and Jeff Eikenberg
