Dear Mr. and Mrs . Friend:
The Board of Weld County Commissioners has considered your petition
and is willing to place the dead end indicator at the west end of
Sandy Knolls Blvd. The Commissioners are not willing to vacate the
half right-of-way for road 511/2 that was dedicated as a part of the
Sandy Knolls Subdivision. Technically, the right-of-way for road
512 does not extend beyond the boundaries of the subdivision and
people who are driving north to road 541/2 are crossing private property.
A new barricade at the west end of Sandy Knolls Blvd. may help with
the traffic problems you are experiencing. Would you or one of your
neighbors please contact Jack Slife, County Maintenance-Support
Superintendent, at 587-4508 (Johnstown) to set up an appointment to
review the problem on site.
Also, the Commissioners do not feel the other signs you requested in
your petition will help your traffic problems . It has been our
experience in similar matters the installation of signs without constant
law enforcement is totally ineffective. Therefore, further signing will
not be installed.
May I recommend if certain individuals are repeat offenders you supply
the vehicle description ,and license number to the Weld County Sheriff's
Office and request them to contact the driver. I know this has worked
in some cases .

and water drainage in the Kersey area
The attached road petition was considered at the Board meeting
on August 8 , 1984. The Board voted to refer this petition to
the Engineering Department for recommendation. They would also
like for you to study the problem of water drainage in the
Kersey area.
Please submit a written copy of your recommendations to the
Clerk to the Board as quickly as possible.
