Home My WebLink About20021888.tiff RESOLUTION RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF THE 30-TON PNEUMATIC TIRE ROLLER COMPACTOR BID - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting period for 30-Ton Pneumatic Tire Roller Compactor for the Department of Public Works, Bid Request No. B0200019, due to rejection of the bid following delivery of a previously accepted unit, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten- day waiting period for said bid. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for the 30-Ton Pneumatic Tire Roller Compactor for the Department of Public Works, Bid Request No. B0200019 be, and hereby is, waived. Jerome, Operations Division Manager SUBJECT: 2002 30-Ton Tire Roller Compactor Bid, B0200019 The Public Works Department recommends the Board of County Commissioners accept the bid from Power Motive Equipment Corporation for one DynaPac CP271 Pneumatic Compactor at a cost of $101,319. The compaction unit previously delivered by McDonald Equipment Company met all specification requirements except compaction wheel overlap but did not comply with contract quality standards. It was rejected after delivery. The next lowest bid which meets all critical specifications is the DynaPac CP271. A review of all the bids received was conducted by Purchasing, Public Works, and Fleet Maintenance and it was determined that other lower bids did not meet compaction width or critical "Operating Weight" specifications. The operating weight specified is 60,000 pounds. This is the same operating weight as the equipment unit being replaced. It is required to achieve acceptable construction compaction standards in an efficient manner. The DynaPac compactor is rated at five horsepowers less than our contract specification. A difference of 5HP is not noticeable during normal operations.
