Home My WebLink About20023193.tiff RESOLUTION RE: AUTHORIZATION FOR WELD COUNTY TREASURER TO CANCEL CERTAIN PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, Donald D. Mueller, Weld County Treasurer, has submitted a list of certain personal property taxes assessed for various years, which are deemed to be uncollectible, in the amount of$77,700.60, said list being attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit"A," and WHEREAS, Donald D. Mueller, has certified to the Board that he has exhausted all means for collecting said personal property taxes, and WHEREAS, Section 39-10-114(2)(a), CRS, as amended, provides that any taxes levied on personal property which are determined to be uncollectible after a period of one year after the date of their becoming delinquent, may be cancelled by the Board of County Commissioners. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the personal property taxes assessed for various years, in the amount of$77,700.60, as set forth in detail in said list attached hereto as Exhibit"A," be, and hereby are, designated as uncollectible and, therefore, are cancelled in accordance with Section 39-10-114(2)(a), C.R.S. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 16th day of December, A.D., 2002. Judy also prepared the enclosed list of accounts totaling $77,701 that we feel are totally uncollectible. I would like to note that this is the first request being made since 1998 at which time a list totaling $46,781 was presented. Previous requests were made of$53,761 in 1997 and approximately $150,000 in 1994. The current request is quite small when you consider a request had not been made for almost five years. We have expended substantial effort to minimize this list and I give Judy and the rest of the staff credit for the effort made in tax collection. We feel it appropriate to "clean up" our tax records prior to year end and therefore we would request that you consider taking such action at an early date.
