RE: APPROVE AMENDMENT TO CHILD AND ADULT PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR
LEGAL SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN -WELD COUNTY ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Amendment to the Child and Adult
Protection Agreement for Legal Services between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and
through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,on behalf of the Department of Social
Services, and the Weld County Attorney, commencing August 1, 2006, and ending December 31,
2006, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said amendment, and
WHEREAS, after review,the Board deems it advisable to approve said amendment,a copy
of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, ex-officio Board of Social Services,that the Amendment to the Child and Adult
Protection Agreement for Legal Services between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and
through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,on behalf of the Department of Social
Services, and the Weld County Attorney be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to
sign said amendment.
The above and foregoing Resolution was,on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 28th day of August, A.D., 2006, nunc pro tunc August 1, 2006.

RE: Amendment to Child and Adult Protection'Agreement for Legal Services
between the Weld County Department of Social Services and the Weld County
Attorney
Enclosed for Board approval is an Amendment to Child and Adult Protection Agreement for
Legal Services between the Weld County Department of Social Services(Department) and the
Weld County Attorney. This Amendment was reviewed at the Board's Work Session of August
21,2006.
The major purposes of the Amendment are to reflect the change in Assistance County Attorneys
and associated costs. The Amendment provides for the replacement of Assistant County
Attorneys involved in child and adult protection cases, for a reduction in other Assistant County
Attorney fees for general legal services, and for the physical transfer an Assistant County
Attorney involved in child support cases. The total costs under the Amendment are$341,294.09.
All other provisions of the Agreement remain the same including the term of the Agreement
which is for Calendar Year 2006.

This Amendment is executed as of August?D-2006, by and between Bruce Barker, County Attorney(hereinafter
referred to as"Contractor")and the Weld County Department of Social Services(hereinafter referred to as"Department):
This Amendment shall be in effect from August 1,2006 through December 31,2006,
WHEREAS,the parties desire to modify their current Agreement(ATTY-FY-05-0005)in order to modify the
personnel and decrease funding for Child Protection legal services, and to add Child Support legal services through
personnel and increased funding for such services;and
WHEREAS, Social Services has budgeted,appropriated,and otherwise made available; and
WHEREAS,required approval,clearance,and coordination have been accomplished from and with appropriate
agencies.
NOW THEREFORE,in consideration of the premises,the parties hereto covenant and agree as follows:
1. Exhibit I, Computation of Personnel Cost For Services will be modified to reduce the
Estimated Cost for LeeAnn Reigrut to$54,321.28 to cover the period of January 1,2006 thru
July 31,2006. Reduce the Estimated Cost for Assistance County Attorneys to$17,166.00 to
cover the period of January 1,2006 thru December 31,2006. Add Attorney Thomas Joaquin
at an Estimated Cost of$29,900.00 to cover the period of August 1,2006 thru December 31,
2006. Add Attorney Stephanie Arries(Child Support)at an Estimated Cost of$46,000.00 to
cover the period of June 12, 2006 thru December 31,2006.
2. Exhibit II,Agreement Budget will be revised to reflect total Services or Personnel costs,
including employee benefits to $335,569.09 and further to revise the Total Costs to
$341,294.09.
Except as modified herein,the terms and conditions of the Original Agreement,together with all the attachments of the
Original Agreement,remain in full force and effect.
