RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF PORTIONS OF WELD COUNTY ROADS 8 AND 17 FOR 30 DAYS,FOR
INSTALLATION OF A WATER LINE
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 42-4-410(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance,temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof
for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days for project
completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road closure
establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative routing of
the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS,the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
to through traffic and to regulate,warn and guide vehicular traffic on said County roads by posting
signs thereon.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVEDthatthe Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County,Colorado,deems it necessary to regulate,warn and guide vehicular traffic on County roads
and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic control
devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon for the
safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal Manual
on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that Weld County Road 8 between Weld County Roads 15
and 17, and Weld County Road 17 between Weld County Roads 8 and 10 be temporarily closed,
with said closure being effective June 14,2006,for approximately 30 days for installation of a water
line, and further,that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving
notice of the restrictions.

COLORADO SUBJECT: Road Closure for WCR 8 from WCR 15 to 17 and WCR 17
from WCR 8 to WCR 10
This is a road closure to be submitted to the BOCC for the 6/12/06 agenda. Northern Colorado Constructors
is requesting the closure of WCR 8 from WCR 15 to WCR 17 and WCR 17 from WCR 8 to WCR 10 for the
installation of an 8" water line for Central Weld County Water District. The requested closure is scheduled
to take place starting on June 14, 2006 and go until July 14, 2006.
This is a 2.5 mile water project which started at WCR 8 and WCR 13, heading East to WCR 17 and then
going North on WCR 17 for one half mile. WCR 8 from WCR 13 to WCR 15.5 is in the town of Dacono.
WCR 8 from WCR 15.5 to WCR 17 is in Weld County's jurisdiction as is WCR 17 going North. The detour
routes for the WCR 8 portion will be WCR 15 to WCR 6 or WCR 17 to WCR 6. For the WCR 17 portion of
the project the detour route will be either WCR 8 or WCR 10 to WCR 15. Traffic counts for the affected
roads are as follows; WCR 8 from WCR 15 to WCR 17 has an ADT count of 49, WCR 17 from WCR 8 to
WCR 10 has an ADT count of 94. Northern Colorado Constructors has agreed to put a dust suppressant in
front of all houses on the detour routes.
