Bliss Bliss Business and Industrial Park 2438 E. 81h Street Greeley Colorado 80631 Dean Andersen Andersen Sales and Salvage 1440 E. 8th Street Greeley Colorado 80631 Dear Mr. Bliss and Mr. Andersen: Thank you for your concern and interest in the flood management associated with the bridge on Fern Avenue. Weld County Public Works floodplain and drainage engineers have examined the site and recommended that an overflow channel be constructed to allow high river flows to divert from the current channel to take advantage of unused spans of the bridge. The overflow channel construction work has been completed by the Public Works Operations Division. If you have any further questions, please contact Jeff Jerome at the Public Works Department at 970-356- 4000 extension 3750. Sincerely, BOARD OF OUNTY COMMISSIONERS M. J. Rob, In reference to the above,we are concerned with the large build up of sand, silt, gravel, and debris on the West and East Side of the Fern Bridge in the Cache La Poudre River. The debris has collected and built up to the extent that in the event of a flood it would cause a back up of water and would collect more debris such as wood and other trash and eventually put great stress on the bridge and damage to the bridge or even take the bridge out. The Fern Bridge has a very low clearance for water to go underneath. The backup of water would act like a dam,and would cause the floodwaters to back up and overflow onto private properties and cause extensive Damage. This not only could effect upstream properties but it could effect properties downstream if the Fern Bridge is washed out. Bliss Business and Industrial Park is located at 2438 E. 8`s St.and goes west to next to Anderson Sales and Salvage. Anderson Sales and Salvage is located at 1490 E 8t St. Both of our properties are on the North side of the Cache La Poudre River. Bliss Business Park has multiple buildings leased out to over fifteen Business's along the Poudre River. A backup of floodwater could overflow the bank of the Cache La Poudre River and cause extensive Damage to ourselves, our tenants, and our neighbors. In the past,Weld county would clean out the area around the Fern Bridge in the Cache La Poudre River. We are asking Weld County Public Works to clean out the sand, gravel, silt, and debris in the Cache La Poudre River surrounding the Fern Bridge. With the high concentration of snow pack in the mountains we feel this situation is critical and should be Acted on immediately. The River flow is at it's lowest and the heavy equipment can enter the river onto the sandbars and dragline out the sand and gravel. If not acted on soon, the warmer weather will melt the snow in the mountains and more runoff will hender the removal of the sand and gravel. We hope to hear from you as soon as possible, Thank You, Bliss Business and Industrial Park MichaelD D.Bliss • Anderson Sales and Salvage Dean Anderson r r 1.4 rj,a ` " ) yn I I I I li iiriFiiiiifi?piiplycyci , { Jffi_I jj Jr + Y f_ ' I i 'I ill 1111 ,t . , ' j u ,!
