Don Kehn Construction, Inc. of Fort Collins submitted an
apparently successful bid of $193,956 at the Division of Highways October
25 opening for a combined project to resurface segments of U.S. 6 and
S.H. 14 in and near Sterling.
Both projects consist of hot bituminous pavement overlay.
Work on U.S. 6 begins a mile within the east city limits of Sterling and
extends 0.677 mile east toward S.H. 61. The S.H. 14 resurfacing begins
a mile and a half west of Sterling and extends 1.828 miles east.
Three firms turned in bids for this project, which requires
completion within fifteen workable days. L. D. Muller of Sterling is
resident engineer.

pavement overlay, beginning 19.8 miles south of Lamar (M.P. 56.1) and extending 2.4 miles
northerly (M.P. 58.6) , beginning 23.9 miles south of Lamar (M.P. 52.0) and extending 4.1
miles northerly (M.P. 56.1) , MP 17-0287-06 and C 17-0287-05, in Prowers county.
10:00 a.m. , S.H. 139 fencing south of Rangely, including
cattle guards, beginning 17.5 miles north of Garfield/Rio Blanco county line and extending
8.7 miles north, in Rio Blanco county, RS 0139.(10) . (Project readvertised. Bids were
previously opened August 16 on this project as a Set-Aside open only to certified, pre-
qualified minority business enterprises) .
Nov. 29: 9:30 a.m. , Interstate 70's Beavertail Tunnels in DeBeque Canyon, con-
sisting of grading, structures, stabilization, seeding, hot bituminous pavement, guard rail,
lighting, signing, striping, and tunnels, beginning 23 miles east of Grand Junction and
extending 1.2 miles easterly, in Mesa county, I 70-1(53) . (Bids will 'be accepted only
from bidders prequalified for this project. The pre bid conference mentioned in the
prequalification notice will not be held.)
