The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, March 8, 2006, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner M. J. Geile, Chair
Commissioner David E. Long, Pro-Tem
Commissioner William H. Jerke
Commissioner Robert D. Masden - EXCUSED
Commissioner Glenn Vaad - EXCUSED
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Jenny VanEgdom
Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Long moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of March 1, 2006, as printed. Commissioner Jerke seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval
by the Board in the amount of $86,043.88. Commissioner Jerke moved to approve the warrants as
presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Long seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
CONSIDER COORDINATION AND PURCHASE OF SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR NUTRITION
SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-WELD FOOD BANK: Judy Griego, Director of Social
Services, stated the term of the agreement is from the date of execution through June 30, 2006, and the
source of funding is Community Services Block Grant funds. She stated the Department will act as the
pass through for nutrition services of food baskets to eligible clients,delivered by the Weld Food Bank. She
further stated the Weld Food Bank will be reimbursed an amount not to exceed$4,837.76. Commissioner
Jerke moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner
Long, the motion carried unanimously.

CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-
WELD COUNTYASSOCIATIONOF OPTOMETRISTS AND OPHTHALMOLOGISTS: Ms.Griego stated
the term of the agreement is January 1,2006,through December 31,2006,and the source of funding is the
Weld County General Fund. She stated the Weld County Association of Optometrists and
Ophthalmologists will provide basic examinations to clients who are not Medicaid eligible at a fee of$50.00,
of which the client will pay a$6.00 co-pay,and the County will reimburse the remaining$44.00. She further
stated lenses will be provided at various rates, not to exceed a fee of$29.00, and the Department will
reimburse the Association an overall amount not to exceed $22,000.00. Commissioner Long moved to
approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Jerke, the motion
carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTIONAGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZECHAIRTO SIGN-
ROUNDUP SCHOOL AND DAY TREATMENT CENTER: Ms.Griego stated the agreement is child-specific
for a child who is unable to attend public school and is placed in foster care in Colorado Springs. She
stated the purpose of the Roundup School and Day Treatment Center is to avoid higher levels of placement
for the child,including Residential Treatment Center services. She further stated the term of the agreement
is February 1, 2006, through May 31, 2006, and Roundup will be reimbursed at a rate of$67.00 per day.
Commissioner Jerke moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by
Commissioner Long, the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by
the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
