Weld Library District
Message from the Executive Director
It is my pleasure to present to you the Weld Library District's 2005 Annual Report. The year
focused on providing library services that benefit the residents of the District, growth
management, and planning for new facilities.
The Weld Library District Board of Trustees, together with staff, developed a Strategic Plan to
guide us through the next three years. The goals emphasize delivery of high quality services to
all residents of the Weld Library District, as well as prudent governance and stewardship of
public funds.
Our Trustees and staff are very involved and engaged in our community. The District
participates in a variety of events and activities sponsored by United Way, Head Start, and
literacy groups, among others. Many staff members hold leadership positions in various
agencies, local service groups and professional organizations. We loved being part of the
Greeley Independence Stampede parade!
In November, Erie's Boulder County residents voted to join the Weld Library District, making it
possible for the District to consider constructing a full-service library in Erie. Collaborating with
the communities in the southwest portion of the District,we put plans into place for opening a
new library in Erie and a new Carbon Valley Regional Library, to be located in Firestone, by the
end of 2007.
I welcome your comments and questions. The Trustees, staff and I look forward to continuing to
provide you with library services that meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
Sincerely,
G7
Janine Reid

over the 2003-2004 school year. Volunteer tutors assisted the targeted age group of fourth through eighth grade students.
The extensive Genealogy Collection consists of print, microfilm, CD-ROMs and subscription research databases. Issues of the

The Weld Library District(including the Farr Branch), in collaboration with Comcast and Toon Disney, brought reading to life
through the Passport to Reading program. To kick off the program, local Colorado author Avi read from one of his books. All 75
children who attended the program received a free autographed copy of his newest book, The Book Without Words.
Due to popularity the Farr Branch added an additional Twinkle Babies storytime to our routine schedule. Twinkle Babies is a
special storytime for infants and their caregivers
