Stake Proposed Right of Way Lines
January 16, 2006
The project limits are both sides of WCR 5 from SH 56 to WCR 40 '/2 and WCR 40 '/2 from WCR
3 to WCR 5 being approximately 5 miles of staking.
• Office calculations to aid in the staking of the proposed right of way lines. This service will
be completed in full prior to performing any staking to ensure the field crew can stake any
property that is requested.
• Farnsworth Group will set temporary survey points in the field along the proposed right of
way lines. Stakes will be set at angle points and every 200 feet along both sides of the new
right of way. For budgetary purpose we have estimated the setting of one hundred and sixty
(160) points. This service includes nine (9) trips to complete this phase based upon staking
a minimum of two properties per trip.
• Provide coordination with Client for staking and in house coordination for scheduling of the
work.
Schedule:
The staking of the right of way will be completed within one week from the time of the staking
request subject to any adverse weather constraints.
Proposed Fee:
Farnsworth Group will perform the above-noted Services on an hourly basis not to exceed
$8,700, to be billed in accordance with our Weld County Approved Rate Schedule.
A more detailed breakdown of estimated maximum fees is provided on the Project Budget
Worksheet, attached hereto for reference.

BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS D
REVIEW/WORK SESSION REQUEST FEB 13 err.^ D
RE: Work Order for Farnsworth Group (Land Surveying Services) WELD COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS DEPT
DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS DATE: January 23, 2006
PERSON REQUESTING: Perry Eisenach, P.E., Engineering Division Manager a
Brief description of the problem/issue:
Under the present Professional Services Agreement with the Farnsworth Group, Public Works is requesting
Farnsworth Group to stake the new right-of-way lines on WCR 40'/ and WCR 5. This project is scheduled for
construction by Public Works crews to begin early this summer. It is anticipated that the work will not exceed
$8,700 and will most likely be less (depending on the number of parcels that may not require staking). This
work is required to be completed during the right-of-way acquisition process and is needed to assist the land
owners and appraisers to view the location of the new right-of-way lines. The right-of-way process is
anticipated to require four months for completion, thus requiring the staking to begin shortly. The Engineering
Division is in the process of filling the two vacant survey positions (Engineering Tech II) and does not have the
ability to complete this work in-house at this time.
What options exist for the Board? (Include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options)
The options are to approve this work order or not to approve the work order. If the Board chooses not to
approve this work order at this time, possibly delays in the acquisition process could occur thus delaying the
start of construction.
Recommendation to the Board:
To meet the current schedule of completing construction on this project this year, Public Works recommends
approval of this Work Order and requests signature on the enclosed Exhibit "A" Work Order form. Thank you
for your consideration.
