HomeMy WebLinkAbout20063406.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE FOUR PURCHASE OF SERVICES AGREEMENTS FOR OPERATIONAL EXPENSES FOR RURAL SENIOR CENTERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS,the Board has been presented with four Purchase of Services Agreements for Operational Expenses for Rural Senior Centers between the County of Weld,State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,on behalf of the Department of Human Services,Area Agency on Aging,and the various Senior Centers,as follows, commencing November 1,2006, and ending June 30, 2007,with further terms and conditions being as stated in said agreements, and Nunn Senior Center - $500 Pierce Senior Center- $500 Hill N Park Senior Center - $500 Lochbuie Senior Center- $500 WHEREAS,after review,the Board deems it advisable to approve said agreements, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the four Purchase of Services Agreements for Operational Expenses for Rural Senior Centers between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, and the various Senior Centers as listed above be, and hereby are, approved. COLORADO FROM.Walter Speckman, Executive Director, Division of Human X/�✓ Services SUBJECT: Purchase of Services Agreement between the Division of Human Services' Area Agency on Aging and four rural Senior Centers Enclosed for Board approval are Purchase of Service Agreements with four rural Senior Centers - Nunn, Pierce, Hill N Park, and Lochbuie. Each of these centers faces financial hardship in terms of keeping their centers open. The centers will utilize the grants to help pay for heat, lights, telephone, supplies, water and other operational expenses. The following grants are to be awarded: *Nunn Senior Center - $500 *Pierce Senior Center - $500 *Hill N Park Senior Center- $500 *Lochbuie Senior Center - $500 Questions may be directed to Eva Jewell, Director Area Agency on Aging, extension 3331. 2006-3406 Purchase of Services Agreement THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 151 day of November, 2006 by and between the County of Weld, State of Colorado,by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,on behalf of the Weld County Division of Human Services'Area Agency on Aging, hereinafter referred to as "AAA" and the Senior Citizens of Nunn hereinafter referred to as "Nunn Seniors." WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, "AAA" develops and administers the Area Plan for a comprehensive and coordinated system of services, and WHEREAS, "AAA"considers small rural senior centers a vital link in the county's system of services to older adults, and WHEREAS, "Nunn Seniors" is a senior center providing recreational, nutritional, and educational opportunities for senior citizens; NOW THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed: 1. The"AAA" hereby agrees to award grant monies(under the Older Americans Act) in the sum of$500 to"Nunn Seniors." 2. "Nunn Seniors" agree to expend the grant monies to pay for operating expenses for the center to include: electricity, gas, telephone, insurance, office supplies,postage, and other operating expenses. 3. "Nunn Seniors"agree to maintain documentation of the above expenditures and to seek prior approval from the Area Agency on Aging if it is needed to expend a portion of this grant on expenditures not listed in number(2)above. 4. "Nunn Seniors"understand that terms of this agreement are valid through June 30, 2007.
