RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY
ROAD 40.5 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 3; ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 40.5 BETWEEN
WELD COUNTY ROADS 3 AND 5; AND ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 5 BETWEEN STATE
HIGHWAY 56 AND WELD COUNTY ROAD 40.5
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that a Stop Sign be installed on Weld County Road 40.5 at Weld County Road 3, and that 45 Miles
Per Hour signs be installed on Weld County Road 40.5 between Weld County Roads 3 and 5, and
on Weld County Road 5, between State Highway 56 and Weld County Road 40.5,to ensure safety
to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
WHEREAS, at said hearing of November 15, 2006, the Board deemed it advisable to
continue said matter to November 20, 2006, to allow a representative of Public Works to attend
said meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado,that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install a Stop
Sign on Weld County Road 40.5 at Weld County Road 3, and to install 45 Miles Per Hour signs on
Weld County Road 40.5 between Weld County Roads 3 and 5, and on Weld County Road 5,
between State Highway 56 and Weld County Road 40.5, for the safety of the general public, and
said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 20th day of November, A.D., 2006.

RE: Signage : WCR 40.5 between WCR 3 & WCR 5 : WCR 5
between SH 56 & WCR 40.5
In conjunction with recent paving and maintenance operations on WCR 40.5 and WCR 5
we evaluated the need for signage to reflect present conditions. Based on our survey, a
STOP sign is recommended for westbound WCR 40.5 at WCR 3 consistent with the
requirements of chapter 2B.05 of the MUTCD. A stop sign was already in place prior to
the paving project for eastbound WCR 40.5 at WCR 5.
The vertical aspects of the roadways (40.5 & 5) coupled with roadside development in the
area have dictated a reduced speed limit zone. A reasonable speed limit of 45 mph that
allows adequate sight distances should be posted for the area. Future 85th percentile speed
measurements should confirm this recommendation.
The approximate locations of the proposed signage are shown in the attached aerial photo.
Exact locations will be determined in the field.

Hello
