HomeMy WebLinkAbout20062948.tiff HEARING CERTIFICATION DOCKET NO. 2006-77 RE: 2007 BUDGET A public hearing was conducted on December 13, 2006, at 10:00 a.m.,with the following present: Commissioner M. J. Geile, Chair Commissioner David E. Long, Pro-Tem Commissioner William H. Jerke Commissioner Robert D. Masden Commissioner Glenn Vaad Also present: Acting Clerk to the Board, Jenny Luna County Attorney, Bruce Barker Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden The following business was transacted: I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated November 3,2006,and duly published November 8, 2006, in the Fort Lupton Press,a public hearing was conducted to consider the 2007 Final Budget for the County of Weld. Donald Warden, Director of Finance and Administration,made this a matter of record and reviewed the 2007 Budget Changes, which includes all changes made since the Proposed Budget was presented to the Board. Mr. Warden stated the Final Budget is recommended at$192,608,472.00,which results in a mill levy of 16.804 mills for 2007,a reduction of approximately 1.1 mills from the previous year. He further stated the mill levy has been reduced by 5.234 mills over the last four years. No public testimony was offered concerning this matter. Commissioner Jerke moved to approve the Draft Resolution to Approve Budget, in the amount of $192,608,472.00. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Masden, and it carried unanimously. In response to Chair Geile,Mr.Warden stated he will issue a press release regarding the final budget and the reduction of the mill levy. Commissioner Masden moved to read Ordinances #237 and #238 by tape. Seconded by Commissioner Vaad, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Warden presented Emergency Ordinance#237, In the Matter of the Annual Appropriation for 2007,and stated this is the document which gives the Board authority to spend money and enter into contracts, as required. Mr.Warden also stated the reason for the emergency is that the Treasurer is not required to certify the Assessed Value until December 10th of each year; however,the budget must be adopted prior to December 31. No public testimony was offered concerning this matter. Commissioner Masden moved to approve Ordinance #237 on an emergency basis. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jerke, and it carried unanimously. Mr.Warden presented Emergency Ordinance#238, In the Matter of Setting the Mill Levy for the year 2007. He stated the maximum tax amount of$70,575,408.00 will require a mill levy of 16.804 mills. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve Ordinance#238 on an emergency basis.
