RE: APPROVE FREEZING HEAD START AND MIGRANT/SEASONAL HEAD START
EMPLOYEES STEP INCREASES UNTIL FUTURE FUNDING ALLOWS
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Federal Budget has reduced the funding for the Head Start and
Migrant/Seasonal Head Start Programs, and
WHEREAS,Weld County must reduce the Head Start and Migrant/Seasonal Head Start
Program budgets due to the Federal Budget reductions, and
WHEREAS,upon review of the options to make the reductions and minimize the impact on
the Programs and avoid layoffs of staff members in the Head Start and Migrant/Seasonal Head Start
Programs,the Board of County Commissioners have approved staffs recommendation to freeze
payroll step increases for all Head Start and Migrant/Seasonal Head Start Program employees until
future Federal budgetary funds increase to allow the programs to afford the salary increases.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado,that payroll step increases for all Head Start and Migrant/Seasonal Head Start
Program employees, be, and hereby are, frozen, effective March 16, 2006, until future Federal
budgetary funds increase to allow the programs to afford the salary increases.
The above and foregoing Resolution was,on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 29th day of March, A.D., 2006, nunc pro tunc March 16, 2006.
