RE: County Road#76 between Cty Rd.23 and Cty Rd.27
Dear Mr.Jerke:
I am writing to you because it seems that none of your County Commissioners and your Director of Public
Works have the authority to do anything about this road. I have talked to all 5 of your Commissionors and
the Director of Public Works, many times, they have all been very pleasant about this problem, but cannot
do anything about it. I am wondering if you can.
Since last April,T have been talking to someone about the terrible rough road and the dust on County Rd.
#76. Maybe 50-60 years ago it was fine for the farmer because he only had a tractor and a wagon and there
was not much traffic. Well times have changed. With the drilling we now have semi trucks and tankers
sometimes 3-4 at a time down this road and they do not travel 25 miles an hour more like 50-60 and the dust
billows up and travels 400-500 ft. and you cannot be outside and breathe.
Your road grader comes once a week and puts back the dust and rocks that these trucks have pushed off the
side of the road. We don't have gravel any more we have pulverized dust. So the grader is absolutely
useless.
On September 20,2006 I had two visitors. George Vandom and someone else,I can't remember his name
and Mr.Vandom went over the road and said yes it was pretty bad. BUT,they could not do anything
about it. That they were purchasing 20 new trucks and hiring 20 drivers to deliver gavel on this road
sometime next year. But did not know when. Big Deal. We still have the problem of DUST.
We have had two wells drilled this summer and expect at least 3-5 more. That means more DUST. I asked
about blacktop, reground asphalt, etc. I was told by the other gentlemen it was to expensive. What do we
pay taxes for?
On County Rd. 76 between Cty road 27 and 29,they have a blacktop road and there are less than 6 homes
on that road. How did they get blacktop.? We have 12 on our road and growing.
This thing about putting a meter on the road to count cars is very obsolete. It isn't how many cars and
trucks it's the DUST.
My point is there has to be something that could be done about the DUST.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope something can be done.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mary Anderson

Subject: Complaint
RE: County Rd 76 between RDs 23 and 27
I inspected the road this morning and discovered that there are 7 areas of dust control
measures in the form of calcium applications in the 2 miles. The calcium application in
front of address 12447 WCR 76 starts approximatley 200 yards before the driveway to the
West and extends more than 300 yards beyond the driveway to the East. It appeared to me
that the material on the driving surface between the calcium containted minimal fines. In
fact I created very little dust as I drove the road and my speed at times was around 35 to
40 MPH. I drove the entire 2 miles from East to West and then West to East.
Ms Anderson mentions that the road is rough. I found the road to be as smooth as most and
smoother than many gravel roads in the area. There was minor washboarding near the West
end of the road.
It is obvious that we cannot cover the calcium with gravel. The only thing I could do is
to spot gravel between the 7 calcium applications. This will add fines to the road and do
little if anything to address any dust issues, and to my knowledge there are no asphalt
millings available.
From reading the complaint and inspecting the road, it seems that Ms Anderson wants any
dust eliminated rather than controlled and it is beyond the resources available to me to
solve that problem.
