Subject: wind farm adjacent to Pawnee National Grassland
Dear Mr.Hantzmon and Mr.Davis,
Greetings from Colorado. I'm a faculty member at Colorado State University and a
birdwatcher who has spent many happy hours on the Pawnee Grassland, searching for raptors
and other birds.
I think it is great that you are building a wind farm adjacent to the PNG. My wife and I
buy wind power through our local utility and thoroughly support alternative energy
sources.
However, I request that you do what is necessary to protect the birds of the area,
especially the raptors who nest along the escarpment near where the turbines are to be
placed. it is critical that you follow DOW guidelines regarding where to site turbines and
that you not site them too near raptor nests.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best wishes,
Phil Cafaro
