HomeMy WebLinkAbout800893.tiff /��3//6 RESOLUTION RE: APPROVAL OF UP-FRONT PAYMENTS FOR OVERTIME RATHER THAN COMP- ENSATORY TIME OFF IN SHERIFF' S DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS , due to the nature of the emergency type work in the Sheriff' s Department, a large amount of overtime is required, and WHEREAS, taking compensatory time off, which is normally how County employees are paid for overtime, has created a severe manning problem for the Sheriff, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners and the Sheriff, after examining many alternatives, have decided on up-front pay- ment of 21% of their pay for those with the rank of Corporal , Deputy I and Deputy II in the Sheriff' s Department, and WHEREAS , those with the rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain are not eligible for the 21% up-front payment because their salary is such as to require them to put in whatever time is required to complete the job, and WHEREAS, those having a rank of Corporal, Deputy I and Deputy II shall be paid a lump sum payment for all overtime currently on the books for the months of September, October and November, 1980, in accordance with County Personnel Policy 2. 3. 4 and the new up-front payment of 21% to be in effect December 1, 1980 , and WHEREAS, the Sheriff has agreed to reduce his 1981 authorized manning by five positions to pay for the increased cost of this proposal. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com- missioners of Weld County, Colorado that those having a rank of Corporal, Deputy I and Deputy II , in the Sheriff' s Depart- ment, shall receive a 21% up-front payment for overtime rather than compensatory time off. 800893 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado that said payment shall be paid in a lump sum for the months of September, October and November, 1980 in accordance with Personnel Policy 2. 3. 4 and the new up-front payment of 21% to be in effect December 1, 1980. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 31st day of December, A.D. , 1980.
