Re: Letters Concerning Proposed Development of Prairie Falcon Parkway Express
Dear Ms. Croghan:
This letter is written in response to the letters you presented to the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, and to the comments you
provided October 25, 2006.
The Board wishes to thank you for submitting your letters and providing comments. Please be
advised that currently, Weld County staff is working on draft regulations to govern the
development of a private toll road in Weld County. These regulations include the designation of
the development of such private toll roads as an"area or activity of state interest," which will
allow for increased local control, and the creation of a hearing process for consent to cross
existing county roadways, as authorized by S.B. 06-115. The "area or activity of state interest"
regulations must be coordinated with those of other affected counties. The process is likely to
take some time. Hearings on the draft regulations will likely begin after January 1, 2007. The
members of your group will be able to participate in those hearings.
