Dear Mayor Selders:
This is letter is to serve as an memorandum for the record concerning the payment of Weld County's share of the
2004-2024 Island Grove Capital Improvement Plan. Originally the Commissioners committed$1,750,000 to the
capital plan. The intent was to participate on those projects that benefited all Weld County citizens. The specific
projects were the air conditioning for the event center($250,000),the west parking lot($780,000), and the indoor
arena($720,000).
Don Warden and Tim Nash have been evaluating the projects, timing of the projects, and cash flow. They have
concluded that it would work best if Weld County participated in the air conditioning for the event center
($250,000),the parking lots($880,000), and Event Center meeting rooms($620,000). This would result in Weld
County paying$750,000 for the 2005 improvements made and$750,000 for the 2006 improvements.With these
payments, Weld County will complete its financial commitment of$1,750,000 to the 2004-2024 Island Grove
Capital Improvement Plan.
Since the 2004-2024 Island Grove Capital Improvement Plan spans 20 years and with term limits,the Board of Weld
County Commissioners feels that the action taken to pay the county's share of the capital plan upfront should be
memorialized in writing via this letter so future Commissioners and Council Members have an understanding of what
transpired. Your signed concurrence will be much appreciated.
