Michael&Linda Brothers 5417 Glendale Gulch Cir Boulder,CO 80301 Letter written on behalf of A Lov-in Touch Pet Chalet and Spaw 7019 Weld County Rd.#5 Erie,CO 80516 September 21,2005 Dear Weld County Officials: We would like to share with you our experiences with i Loy- Touch Pet Chalet, and attempt to clarify to how viral their services are to us and many other'roving per owner:. in .he area. We consider the services provided by A Lov-In Touch to be critical,as we rely on them when we travel—often for work-to provide a safe and friendly environment our furry family member.Kaiya. We will start by simply stating that, A Lov-in Touch is the best day care and boarding facility that we have ever dealt with! They have the best facility, wonderful customer care and the strictest of obedience policies. We have placed Kaiya — a Blue Heeler/Shepherd mix — in both day care and extended weekend stays at A Lov-in Touch for over two years.Prior to finding A Lov-in Touch,we boarded Kaiya in four other day are facilities since she was a puppy, and none of them have measured up to the outstanding standards set by A Lov-in Touch. For example, while on summer vacation in the Northeast last year,we placed Kaiya in highly-respected and well- tablished local boarding facility, which coined the name"Doggie Daycare"over a decade ago. And,in making the comparison, we believe that overall, A Lov-in Touch is a better operated facility than "Doggie Daycare." One of the most outstanding differences between A Lov-in Touch and other options for dog care is their strict attention to behavioral issues. Following her previous stays at other facilities, Kaiya would often demonstrate short-term behavioral problems such as fear of people, jumping, or barking. This does nor happen at A Lov-in Touch, where Deb,Nick and the whole staff are well-educated on animal behavior and appropriate training methods. Kaiya is always eager to arrive at A Lov-in Touch and is happy, healthy and well-adjusted when she returns. Providing a well-socialized play and kennel environment—like the one that exists at A Lov-in Touch-- is extremely rare and should be appreciated in our community! Irresponsible dog owners and inappropriately socialized dogs can cause many community problems, from the extreme cases of fearful biting to the commonly endured habitual barking. And frankly, if more dog owners utilized the services provided by A Lov-in Touch, the owners could prevent many behavioral problems brought on by inappropriate or inadequate dog socialization. 1 urge you to support A Lov-in Touch as a valuable business and community resource. A Lov-in Touch provides a skilled and important service to the citizens of this community, one which is important for dog owners and non-dog owners.dike. We have been clients at A Lov-in Touch for nearly three years now,and we consider their services to be the best we can find in the area. Their facility is always clean and well kept, and they treat our animals with the love and care that we would show them at home. We own a German Shepherd whom we cannot board with anyone else in the area (most kennels will only take"easy"dogs like labs and golden retrievers), so we rely heavily on A Lov-in Touch to keep our dog so we can visit family out of state. Without them, we would not be able to leave town. We appreciate the level of responsibility that A Lov-in Touch shows by requiring their dog clients to meet certain obedience standards before they can board overnight. This ensures the safety of all of the pets staying at A Lov-in Touch and brings yet another level of sophistication to the establishment. It is very important to us that our dog socialize in a controlled setting like ALT. The amount of time the dogs spend together helps them all to be better"dog citizens"when they are at home in their neighborhoods. Most importantly to us, our dog absolutely loves to play at A Lov-in Touch. She gets very excited when it's her day to go to day care, and when she comes home at the end of the day; she is very tired and content. As we are new parents to a baby boy right now,we rely on doggie day care at ALT to remove some of the pressure of having to provide rigorous exercise for our dog every single day. We sincerely hope you will consider the important role A Lov-in Touch plays in many families' lives with the services they provide. The Lowry family and the staff of ALT are a fine example of what Colorado businesses should strive to be. Sincerely, Jeff and April Bemacki EXHIBIT September 25, 2005 To Whom It May Concern: In over 15 years as dog owners, we have never experienced a finer day care and boarding facility as A Lov-in Touch! ! Before A Lov-in Touch, our dogs had to stay all day in large rooms filled with kennels. Some had a door to an outdoor run, some did not. The noise of all the dogs barking was extremely loud and stressful on our dogs, particularly on our greyhounds that we had at the time. Now our dog, Lucy, can run around all day outside in one of the five play yards with other dogs — playing and enjoying the outdoors in a natural. way. And she has a quiet time in the middle of the day. She comes home happy and well exercised. Our dogs used to balk at the door of other kennel-only facilities and hated to go in. At A Lov-in Touch, Lucy bounces out of the car and is anxious to play with her buddies. We are so impressed with how caring and loving the staff at A Lov-in Touch are. They are so professional and organized. The grounds are dog friendly and safe. The integrity is impeccable. It is so evident how much they care about what they are doing. We can't imagine what we'd do without A Lov-in Touch for day care and overnight boarding. There's no comparable place to take Lucy to. On the days that my husband and I work all day, we know Lucy is having a good time at A Lov-in Touch and isn't staying at home bored and lonely. They provide a unique service that is desperately needed. Sincerely, Vicki and Jim Barbour 2717 Odell Drive Erie CO 80516 720-890-0276 EXHIBIT 465 Briggs St P.O. Box 934 Erie, CO 80516 October 10, 2005 To Whom It May Concern: A Lov-in Touch Doggy Day Care has provided wonderful care for our family's now 11 month old mixed breed puppy over the last 6 months. Mutley is half German Shepherd and half mutt, because of this we were worried about being able to socialize her enough as a puppy to make sure that she would not be wary of strangers or other dogs. A Lov-in Touch has given us more piece of mind that when she meets another dog or new people she is not afraid or aggressive. Because we know that she needs plenty of exercise and socialization, we bring her to A Lov-in Touch often as I know she enjoys it. She comes home happy, hungry, and exhausted after a long day of play with the other dogs and the many caring and courteous individuals who work there. Without A Lov-in Touch Doggy Day Care close to home, I would have to either take my dog to Boulder or leave her at home in a crate. She is too young to be around the house by herself and, as a renter, we do not have a fenced yard leaving me without much choice but to take her to Boulder. The people at A Lov-in Touch have been amazing in caring for our dog and we are very grateful for having such a wonderful place located so close to our home in Erie and would be extremely sad to see a such a good business with wonderful people close. Sincerely, • Krista L. Baker and Jeffrey D. Beal EXHIBIT September 30, 2005 Weld County Zoning To Whom it May Concern: We first became aware of A Lov-in Touch by our neighbor several years ago. Since then we have been a loyal customer and have been amazed by the care our dog has received during her stay at the kennel. Deb and Nick's hospitality has allowed us to deal with multiple family emergencies over the year and has minimized our stress level at the time. In addition, we have been taking our dog to "day care" at least twice a week. Their customer service has made us raving fans of this business and we have approached many neighbors and coworkers about this vital service to the community. In my opinion, the staff at A Lov-in Touch are better trained and provide more attention to the dogs in their care then some human day-cares in the metro area. What makes my situation unique, is we live in Broomfield and work in Boulder. Along with several of my neighbors we make the approximately 20 mile drive one way. We have found while we are in Weld county, dropping off our dog twice a week, we have frequently patronized several of your local businesses. If we were not loyal costumers of A Lov-in Touch we would be unlikely to visit as many stores in your county as we do now. I thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter. As a condo owner, it is important for me to have a place to take my dog, a yellow labrador retriever, to run around and play. Because of strict leash laws in my hometown, Broomfield,A Lov-in Touch provides a place for my dog to play with other dogs, without the constraints of a leash. I am so pleased with this once-a-week service that I actually drive 30 miles out of my way in order to provide an outside day for my condo dog once per week. The staff at A Loy-in Touch is professional and caring. Dog lovers in my neighborhood are now taking their 4-legged loved ones to A Lov-in Touch because of the positive experience I've had with the staff and the facilities. I was informed in September that A Loy-in Touch was sent a letter from the Zoning Code Enforcement Officer stating they were in violation with Weld County's Zoning Ordinance. I am hoping the recommendations from your department forA Lov-in Touch to conform to the zoning ordinance aren't outside the realm of possibilities. As a frequent visitor to the doggy daycare, I would hate to see some ordinance glitch hamper a perfectly legitimate business, geared toward the canine community. As you can tell, I take this matter seriously. For dog owners like me, our pets are family members. I hope this matter can be resolved with fairness and efficiency. Sincerely, Carrie L. Troxel Customer of A Lov-in Touch r1 EXHIBIT To Whom It May Concern: Subject: A Lov-in Touch Our four dogs have been satisfied customers of A Lov-in Touch for several years. Paul Jac 7r //s Margaret Jachimiak 9406 Gunbarrel Ridge Road Boulder, Colorado 80301 EXHIBIT September 27,2005 Dear Sir or Madam, This letter is in regard to a zoning matter that has been brought before A Lov-in Touch Pet Chalet and Spa in Weld County. I am the proud mother of a four-year-old Basenji mix named Kona. I adopted Kona from the Dumb Friends League in Denver. He was mistreated and abandoned by his previous owner and was left with MANY emotional issues.Of those the most troubling and crippling is his separation anxiety. From the moment I start to gather my belongings and put my shoes on to head out the door my heart breaks as my best friend's entire body shakes in horror that I am leaving and fears I may not return. Over the years I have administered a prescription drug called Chloprimamine, which was recommended by my veterinarian twice a day. Everyday! Although it helps it does not make those feelings completely go away. I adopted - Kona about three years ago right after I moved here from Chicago. After extensive research on many boarding facilities and kennels in the surrounding areas, some of which should be shut down in my opinion,I found A Lov-in Touch. Let me tell you the name says it all! Their personalized care and one on one attention they give my dog is invaluable to me.Their magnificent facility is unlike anything I have ever seen before and believe me I"ve seen a lot of them! I have great peace of mind knowing he's not put in some small kennel with minimal heat and air and forgotten about for the rest of the day. He is so happy there, getting plenty of exercise running freely on their fenced in farm and playing with the other dogs. . How do I know? It"s easy. Every time I turn down county mad five and head towards A Love-in Touch Kona's tail starts wagging uncontrollably! He becomes overwhelmed with excitement and anticipation ! There isn't any shaking or crying when I drop Kona off at A Lov-in Touch and I cannot tell you how much that means to me. What is most amazing is that he doesn't even need to take his medication when he's there! Deb and her professional staff have been a godsend to Kona and II Being from out of state and not having any family here, I don't know what we'd do without them! They are our family! Sincerely, Nicole Antalek EXHIBIT Jenifer and Marlin Copeman 6000 Fox Hill Dr. Longmont, CO 80501 October 1,2005 Dear Weld County Planning Commission: This letter is to advise you of our relationship with A LOV-IN-TOUCH Pet Chalet and Spaw in Erie,Colorado. We have been boarding our 4 year old chocolate lab(OKON) there for approximately 3 years and have found the Lowry's to be extremely competent and caring people. Their staff is extremely friendly, yet professional and it is in our best interest if this business remains operating: We have experience with many various kennels and we will NEVER consider allowing our animals to be cared for by anyone except A Lov-in Touch. The location is a perfect location for these animals to be,play, run and be out in the open. The facility is clean and kept extremely neat. In addition, the Lowry's are always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate special needs and requests of both the animals and the owners. We can guarantee there is no better business in all of Weld County. We truly feel they are like family. We understand that zoning is important within counties;however we sincerely hope that whatever the issues, they will be resolved and/or modified or re-evaluated in order to enable this business to remain operating as is.Please allow this business to remain operating with no excessive additional costs to make unnecessary changes. Sincerely, t: Marlin and Jenifer Copeman and Okon EXHIBIT Jre SUSAN LEACH 7253 Siena Way•Boulder,CO.80301 •303-530-0336•fax: 303-530-1385•email: sdleach@comcast.com September 28, 2005 A Lov-in Touch Pet Chalet& Spaw 7019 Weld County Rd. #5 Erie, Colorado 80516 Dear Deb and Nick, My husband Bill Hoagland and I are dismayed to learn that Weld County Zoning has made costly "recommendations"to allow you to continue operating your business. We sincerely hope that this does not force you to close. I'm not sure what recommendations they could make. The facility is attractive and is always clean and well-maintained. The fact that it is in the country and not in an urban, industrial area like many other kennels is also a plus. When Milo, our English Bulldog was still a puppy, I started searching for a kennel for him for when we had to be out of town. We work at home, so Milo is pretty much with us 24/7, and is not accustomed to being alone or confined for long periods of time in a kennel. Finding the right kennel for him was important to us. I asked for recommendations from P.C.'s Pantry in Boulder, and made a lot of calls. Then I did site visits with Milo. In a traditional kennel, he would be locked up most of the time, with maybe 30-minutes to an hour of yard time—like in a prison! They also reminded me of a humane society facility, filled with barking, anxious dogs. We decided Milo would be happiest staying at a"social kennel." I knew we had found the right place after our visit to A Lov-in Touch, and we have been bringing him there ever since for the last three years. That feeling is confirmed every time we bring Milo in for boarding. He is excited and happy to be there, and no coaxing is required to get him out of the car and through the gate. He loves the staff and the other dogs, and always has a great time. I have peace of mind leaving him there, because I know he's having fun, and is happy and well cared for. I know I sometimes must annoy the staff by asking how he did when I pick him up. A simple answer of"fine" doesn't do, 1 want to know"what" he did! And they always have something to tell me. Like me, I'm sure many other"guardians"would have a difficult time finding another kennel for their companions that even comes close to a Lov-in Touch. We sincerely hope that we will not have to make this decision. A Lov-in Touch is a great resource for pet guardians/owners in the Boulder and Weld County area, and for it to be shut down would be a great loss. ( Sincerely, Zs! I have boarded my dogs here for many years and feel that A Lov-in Touch provides much needed and unique services to the community. Not only are they in an ideal zone for such a business, but they look after pets with kindness and excellent care. As I am a Photographer and Travel Director, I find myself out of town often throughout the year. It can be difficult to find a good boarding facility where dogs are not confined in small places for lengthy periods of time. A Lov-in Touch has been the absolute best alternative I have found for such accommodation. I transport my pets here from Westminster so that they may have the most ideal situation while I am away. I do not hesitate to recommend their services. It is my hope that the Weld County Department can come to a satisfactory condusion with A Lov-in Touch so that they may continue to provide their services to the public. Existing water consumption,as measured by Left Hand Water District, was used for this evaluation. Based on the engineer evaluation, the existing individual septic disposal system is of sufficient size and capacity to adequately handle the existing load as described above. However, the USR application requests an 80 dog capacity. Therefore, the septic system is undersized. An engineer design of the necessary alterations and a repair permit are required prior to any alterations to the system. Because this is a full service kennel and grooming facility, the additional tank and field size must be designed for a design flow of 30 gallons per dog as required in Chapter 30 of the Weld County Code. Be advised, neither the County of Weld nor any of its agents or employees undertake or assume any liability to the owner of the above property,to any purchaser of the above property or to any lending agency making a loan on the above property or in the report. This inspection was conducted for the purpose of determining compliance with current regulations and for detecting health hazards observable at the time of inspection. This does not constitute a warranty that the system is without flaw or that it will continue to function in the future. Inspections requested during periods of snow cover and high soil saturation maybe of questionable value to potential buyers due to adverse conditions. Evaluations based on Statements of Existing(S.O.E.)relies on information the property owner provides, under oath, indicating current status of the system and representing to the best of his/her knowledge the system is not failing to function properly.
