The Eaton Fire Protection District will require the following: • 1,500 gallons per minute at 20 psi for 2 hours at proposed building location. Exception: A reduction in required flow of up to 75 percent, as approved, is allowed when building is provided with an approved automatic sprinkler system. The resulting fire flow shall not be less than 1,500 gallons per minute. (1997 Uniform Fire Code, Appendix III-A, Section 5.2) • A decrease in the fire flow requirements may be modified downward by the fire chief and fire board for isolated buildings or group of buildings in rural areas or small communities where the development of fire flow requirements is impractical. (1997 Uniform Fire Code, Appendix III-A, Section 3.1) • Type 5, 1 hour rated building construction • Smoke detector monitoring system throughout the building • Fire lane"No Parking" signs or painted curbs shall be places as specified and approved by the Eaton Fire Protection District • Hydrant locations will be placed as specified and approved by the Eaton Fire Protection District • Fire department access roads shall have an unobstructed width of not less than 20 feet and an unobstructed vertical clearance of not less than 13 feet 6 inches. (1997 Uniform Fire Code, Article 9, Section 902.2.2.1) • Approved numbers or address shall be provided for all new and existing buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property. (1997 Uniform Fire Code, Article 9, Section 901.4.4) • Along with these requirements it must also be known that further construction of future buildings may require a more demanding fire-flow due to the proximity of exposures. Plans of any future buildings must also be submitted to the Eaton Fire Protection District for review and approval. If you have any questions or would like to set up a meeting to discuss any aspects of the proposed building please feel free to contact us at (970) 454-2366.
