RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY
ROAD 40 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 15
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that stop signs be installed on Weld County Road 40 at Weld County Road 15,to ensure safety to
the traveling public, and
WHEREAS,the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the
protection of the general public.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install stop
signs on Weld County Road 40 at Weld County Road 15, for the safety of the general public, and
said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was,on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 12th day of June, A.D., 2006.

COLORADO RE: Intersection Signing of WCR 40 and WCR 15
A signing request was received from Londi Stout concerning the uncontrolled T-intersection referenced.
Ms. Stout is concerned about the lack of traffic signing. I telephoned Ms. Stout but was not able to reach
her due to a wrong phone number.
I visited the site and did not find sight restrictions or other warrants for signing. The most recent counts
in 2003 show less than 100 vehicles a day. The intersection is in part of Weld County that is experiencing
high growth. Although the signing might not be justified by warrants today, I believe it would be
proactive to install signs within developing areas of Weld County and were uncontrolled intersections
might not be practical. I am recommending a stop sign be placed on WCR 40 at the T-intersection with
WCR 5 per the MIJTCD guidelines.
