RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF WELD COUNTY ROAD 17 BETWEEN WELD COUNTY ROADS 14
AND 18 FOR TEN WEEKS, FOR INSTALLATION OF WATER LINE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-410(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehiculartraffic any highway or portion thereof
for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days for
project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on said County roads by posting
signs thereon.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County,Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate,warn and guide vehicular traffic on County roads
and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic control
devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon for the
safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal Manual
on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that Weld County Road 17 between Weld County Roads 14
and 18 be temporarily closed, with said closure being effective May 2, 2006, for approximately ten
weeks for installation of a water line, and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall
be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 1st day of May, A.D., 2006.

SUBJECT: Road Closure for WCR 17 from WCR 14 to 18
This is a road closure to be submitted to the BOCC for the 5/1/06 agenda. The Town of Firestone is requesting
the closure of WCR 17 from WCR 14 to WCR 18 for the installation of a 14" water line. The requested closure is
scheduled to take place starting on May 2, 2006 and go until July 7, 2006.
This project will start at the water tank battery about half mile north of the intersection of WCR 14 & WCR 17
and head north up WCR 17 to WCR 18, then west on WCR 18. The detour routes will be WCR 19 to WCR 18
and WCR 15 to WCR 18, this portion of the detour route is in the towns of Firestone and Frederick.
