Subject: Proposed Uranium mine courtesy of PowerTech.
Dear Weld County and Larimer County Reps:
Our names are Kurt and Deanne Janz. We currently live in Weld County near WCR 100 and WCR 18 (4 mi East
of Wellington, CO). We have great concern for the health and wellbeing of or 5 children and the community we
live in. Since the learning of this proposal by Powertech to mine Uranium about 2 miles from our house, we are in
distraught. We like all of our neighbors or quite concerned for our family's health first and foremost and what
impact this could also have upon our current property values. In 2005 we drilled a Water Well for our household
purposes, which is approximately 650 feet deep. We hit the aquifer approximately 420 feet down. After seeing
what is proposed by this company and the method of which they intend to mine for this Uranium deeply concerns
us with what will happen to the water sources for all of Northern Weld county and possibly a large area of Larimer
County. In looking at what has happened to other projects where this type of mining has occurred, it is inevitable
that there will be contamination to the open ground and possibly the aquifer it's self Powertech has
EVERYTHING to gain, we in the community have EVERYTHING to lose.
The first scheduled town meeting is set for April 21, 2007 6pm - 9pm -General Public Meeting in Wellington,
CO The Leeper Center at 3800 Wilson Ave. This is crucial that we have representatives such as your selves
attend this meeting to address the concerns we have and what can be done.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Kurt and DeAnne Janz
