Dear Landowner/Mineral Owner:
In our continuing search for more oil and gas, Amoco Production Company is one
of the most active drilling companies year after year. In recent years, we
have drilled more wells than any other company. We expect large drilling pro-
grams in years to come.
Our exploration efforts cannot always coincide with the duration of a particular
lease, however, and leases sometimes come to an end before we are able to drill
near or on them. When this happens it does not always mean that we no longer
have an interest in your lease.
Some other party or company may contact you for a lease before our lease with
you expires. If you are contacted in this manner, you should examine our lease
and if the lease specifically requires notification to Amoco when you receive
such an offer, you should follow the instructions in the lease. If thre are no
such instructions in our lease, the choice of leasing to another company while
our lease is still in force is entirely yours, however, a second lease signed by
you before the end of our lease is legally enforceable only after the date that
our lease expires. Should you receive an offer to lease from some other party
while you think our lease may be in force, I suggest that you contact me for
advice as to our plans. We may have definite drilling plans on our lease and,
in any event we would appreciate the opportunity of discussing purchase of a
renewal lease from you.
We value you as one of our mineral owners and would appreciate your keeping this
message in mind as your lease approaches the end of its term.
Yours very truly,
J. 0. Wood, Division Landman
