Re: Colorado Landfill, Inc.
Gentlemen:
Enclosed is information presented to the
Board of Trustees on April 14., 1983 that
would indicate the operation at the Colorado
Landfill site east of Erie has deteriorated
recently.
Consideration of the enclosed information
at the Dept. of Planning Services meeting
on April 19, 1983 would be appreciated.
t personally observed a large flock of sea—
gulls on the landfill site eating garbage
on Saturday, April 2, 1983 while dumping
garbage collected from my own property.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
This is to verify that on April 9, 1983 at approximately 1715 MDT I
was a passenger in helicopter N5001L and witnessed the following:
1. A large flock of sea gulls feeding on garbage at the South-
west Weld County Landfill . The birds, estimated to number
200, were further observed upon departing the landfill to
fly westward directly through the approach corridor to the
active runway 15 at the Tri-County Airport.
2. Visable signs of erosion caused by surface run-off from
the landfill site into the Coal Creek drainage.
3. A mixed herd of horses and cattle grazing freely on the
landfill .
4. A large open pit with standing water and garbage which
appears to have existed for some period of time.
